Howdy, all-
I have had this odd cyst right on top of my cheek for years, which I'd like to get rid of. But it's not the kind that's red and swollen. It looks like a blackhead, but it isn't raised. It has a dark "head" and a small area around it is also dark. I admit I've picked at it and some dark matter comes out. Then it fills up again.
I've used my trusty Retin A, to no avail. Retin A normally brings pimples to a quick head so I can extact them with little effort. Not this time. I also tried Renee Rouleau's cyst treatment and drawing salve unsuccessfully. My aesthetician told me microdermabrasion treatments would eventually help, but she was wrong (although they helped my skin overall).
On good days, I try to tell myself it's a Marilyn Monroe-type mole. But, instead of being delusional, I'd really just prefer to get rid of it.
Anyone had this type of cyst and gotten rid of it? Help.... Thanks! |

Yes, the derm said we'd have to cut it out. But I was wondering if there were alternatives...? Sometimes I think we know more than most derms... |

Self treating cysts is a very bad idea. |

Not when it comes to something as potentially dangerous as this, m'dear. Have your derm remove it!

More than a few Derms don't know much about skin care. They are more focused on disease. If you decide to think about having it cut out, go to a PS not a Derm.
It sounds like it could be Sebaceous Hyperplasia. I have one on my cheekbone that
Differin has helped |
