I have some stubborn whiteheadsin my chin. I have used clay mask and proactive solution. I have been using 2% BHA lotion but I haven't seen any improvements so far. Does anyone has similar issues with whiteheads?

I know the feeling I have a bunch of white heads on my chin and now I am occasionally getting them on my jaw line and black heads and cyst on my cheecks. I currently have found no solution for this problem and I have been scared to use many procucts for fear that it will cause more breakouts (I have sensitive skin).

Has anyone tried a sample of IS Clinical Proheal? It really does help with cysts and whiteheads w/o overdrying the skin. It really helped my son in college keep them at bay (when he remembers to wash his face and use it)! Laughing

Mama Lotion really help keep my cystic "nasties" under control. However, if you have sensitive skin do NOT use this product. It's got a a 20% mandelic and malic acid concentration. It's never given me any problems, but I must have thick skin! Laughing I quit using it for a while so I could experiment with something else. My skin was fine for a week, and then I got 11 HUGE cystic zits at once! AACCCKKK!! I went back on the Mama Lotion nightly, and three days later, I only have 1 zit left. It's a miracle for me, but use with caution.

I just ordered Jan Marini's Bioclear Cream. We'll see how that works when get it. Worst comes to worst, I have my Mama as a backup! Very Happy

Thanks gals for all your good advices. I will keep up with my battle with whiteheads. I am thinking maybe I should try some spa facial services? Do they actually able to do physical extraction? If they do I wonder if whiteheads will come back afterwards....anybody tried before?

I have been to the spa and yes they can extract them. The down side of it is if you dont know what is causing them they will continue to return. If you keep up with it regularly it would probably help. I would take that path but I can notthe time off from work.

when oil 'hardens' in pores... so do blot often to remove the oil and the no. of whiteheads will be reduced. Physical extraction will damage skin if done often.

I have found Eve Lom cleanser (with the muslin cloth) really effective. You could also look at taking supplements to support the kidneys as congestion on jaw is apparently a sign of poor kidney function.

Some of the following may help:

To treat the abnormal keratinization that's causing the whitehead plug to form:
-Vitamin A product

To soften the whitehead plug so that it hopefully no longer actually plugs your pore duct and can be expelled with minimal strain on the pore wall and opening:
-Again, vitamin A product
-Salicylic acid product (which you're already using, so keep at it)

To help ensure that the bacteria in the reservoir of sebum and dead skin cells behind the plug don't multiply to the point where it triggers an immune response
-Oxygen product

You could steam your face to loosen the plug & then attempt to extract it. I have an extraction tool that I use. Follow that with your clay mask & then acne med - bha or bp.

yes, def use with caution...cos i ordered a bottle and this stuff is STRONG!!! and i read in another forum (cant remember which), this member was saying that it has cancer causing ingredients, but its only harmful if you use it long term...that put me off a bit and i sold it on ebay. i cant really say whether it works or not, but i did see that it made my skin really tight

The bp in the ProActiv could be drying out your skin, which could make your whiteheads worse.

Stick with salycic acid products, a gentle exfoliant and a good moisturizer.

If you use a lot of harsh products, you may want to lessen the frequency of their use or drop them for a bit and see if that helps.

Good luck!
Bosoxy.

what's the ph of your 2% bha?
if it's low - maybe you should try some 5%bha?

i use the products from dianayvonne (professional solutions) they both have 1.9 ph.
I wouldn't be able to use them everyday, but when something pops up that my exfol can't handle, these do the trick.

it funny cause it seems like i've had whiteheads forever, especially on my chin.

since is started cleansing my face with jojoba oil and do a moisturizer of aloe vera and jojoba oil, my whiteheads are pretty gone.

oh you can still see one or two but i'm really amazed at the outcome of that! i think it's because i change how i wash my face and took extra care of it.

hey, even the ones between my cheek and nose are hardly there. Very Happy

Really Shock I never knew jojoba oil could help with whitehead.

bubbleoffplumb, I believe the ph of the 2% bha I am using now is 3.4. Is it not low enough to make it work?

Maybe I will finish using my BHA and try shelliegal's method. Shelliegal, what is the moistrurizer that you are using?

The whiteheads on the chin will go away permanantly with tazorac (I use currently) or retin A, etc. They are prescriptions, but they truly work - and immediatley on that problem. It's the first spot - the chin feels completely different as if it were previously swollen.

I think cleaning is most important, try Dr. H cleansing cream, it is effective on me, I used to have whiteheads around my nose and mouth and on chins sometimes and now they are reduced significantly. Don't forget to use cleansing mask regularly. Don't squese it, that is the BIGGEST mistake. For my case, selection of sunscreen is most important, some sunscreen may block the pores, so see if you need to find a new one...

Hope the info helps!

Lots of conflicting advice. It really depends on the type of skin you have, which I don't think has been mentioned. An example would be if you have oily skin you should not put moisturizer on, it will only clogg your skin.

The only topical script for pour cleaning is Differin. You can get it on the net without a script and it's fairly inexpensive. Use it only at night and use a BHA product during the day. It takes time, but it worked for me after decades of other products that only emptied my pocketbook.
