I was watching the local news and this medical report was on.
A Dr. Gary Stoner of Ohio State Medical Center conducted studies with seaweed. He made a type of sunscreen and applied it to mice.He also fed it to them.
It was able to protect against skin cancer as effectively as topically. Can it protect humans this way?
Maybe in the future this will be our new suncreen.
What does seaweed taste like? |

Seaweed has always been ingredients in dishes in I think all Asian cultures...I love them but my SO just can't stand the taste. I love that specific taste....of course...I don't think I can eat it raw...that would be too weird... |

Actually, there ARE a number of Seaweed/Kelp supplements on the market in capsule form. They are very Iodine-rich, though, at 150% of the RDA. I'm just assuming here that this might not be a good idea for anyone with an over-active thyroid.

I love seaweed and prefer them dried as snacks or cooked in soup Seaweed soup is yummy especially if you're using fresh seaweed from Japan or Korea! |
