When did skincare companies stop putting the list of ingredients on the actual container and use only the outer packaging? I don't keep outer packaging for long, and often forget what exactly is in my products. Then, I have to search the internet for the product again. It is really starting to bug me! |

Probably they are trying to hide something, or lie |

I suspect its the economics. If there is an outside package, they put them there so people can read them; but do not reprint on the bottle lable to save money in printing costs (and maybe space).
My new project, as I have some of these also, plus I have collected so many products I now am getting confussed:
I'm going to search on line for all products I have and do the old "copy and paste" into a word document. Then print and tape to an index card; this way I can keep in alpha order. When I buy a new one, if its on the outside package then cut it out and tape on the index card. If its on the bottle, then I'll either re-type it or go look for copy and paste ease. The card can then also be used for any notes that I might want to add, like date bought, how I like it, any problems caused... you get the idea.
OK, I know, I have too much time on my hands. (We are empty nesters with kids in college, so I do have a bit more time) Its really more a case of I have to keep my thoughts straight or I get lost LOL

I agree, Linda. I think they post them on the outer packaging so that people can see the ingredients prior to purchasing. Sometimes the bottle or container is too small to list all of the ingredients - and the font has to be a certain size. And I'm sure cost is a factor, too.
By law, as long as the ingredients are listed in a place that is 'attached' to the product (such as a hang-tag, or an outer wrapper or box), then it's fine. They can even be listed on an enclosed card as long as it's obvious that it 'goes' with that particular product. |

Smoky1 I cut the ingredients off the box as soon as I open it and save them. I have a ziploc bag where I keep all these ingrdient lists and that way it is all in one place and I know where to find one when I need it. When I start a replacement I also compare the ingredient list to the old one that I saved and that way I can pick up on subtle changes to the ingredients. |

Theresa, a great idea! I guess now's a good time to start as I'm considering changing my products... |

I always check the ingredients on everything I purchase, so it doesn't really matter to me. |

What truly annoys me is when companies don't put the full ingredient list on their websites. I find I have to go hunting around e-stores looking for ingredient lists or go out to the shops to try and eyeball the product. Why can't they add the full ingredients on their sites?
Grr. |

As the cosmetics labels, bottles, tubes, etc. are relatively small, it's generally a space issue that prevents manufacturers from putting the list of ingredients on the products themselves. If it's a larger bottle or tube, you're more likely to find it. |

I usually just check when buying. After I've bought the item, I usually don't check because it might end up being a case of check, get freaked out by the ingredients and the product is chucked away despite the cost |
