Hi,
So, despite using a gentle-but-firm routine to combat my acne I'm at my breaking point and realize that it needs revamping. I'm using Taz .1% gel every night and PC BHA 2% Liquid every night, and I'm still breaking out. Ugh.
What do you think of trying out the P50 and replacing my bha with it? I have VERY stubborn blackheads that the bha and taz haven't made a dent with. Help. |

I used up two bottles of this without any real results. In fact it made my skin more oily, however, some people swear by it. For a cheaper way to try it in case it doesnt work for you is to try to find it on MUA and do a swap. Hope it works for you!
How long have you been doing your current routine? |

Hi Vonstella,
I've been doing my routine since the new year. Here it is:
am:
Alphy Hydrox Foaming Face Wash
apply Eucerin Extra Protective SPF 30
pm:
Jojoba oil for ss/mu removal
AH Foaming Wash
PC BHA
Taz .1 gel
Really simple routine, eh? About a month and a helf into my routine, right when my skin acclimated to the Taz, my skin was as perfect as it had been since puberty. Then, a couple weeks later, my face started exploding all over. Granted my acne is mild to moderate, but it's quite persistent. Five years ago I was on Accutane and do not want to do that again, even though it helped loads at the time. After about a year the acne came back. I've tried cleanses, eliminating dairy with no good results. I'm really frustrated. Thanks for your response!!! |

Have you thought about the Eucerin Extra Protective or Jojoba oil being the culprit? I dont tolorate any oils (and I have used them all!). Maybe if you changed that up the breakouts would stop. Are they cysts or just small patchy breakouts? |

I guess it could be either the jojoba or the Eucerin, but I never thought they were the culprits because I used them during a time when my skin was looking really good. I'm scared to death of trying new products because of the potential acne!!!
I love the idea of using an oil to remove everything because it's so thorough. Should I branch out and try Grapeseed? ( |

Hmmm, maybe those are not the prob then. I cant really give you any advice on other oils b/c all the ones that were not suppose to clog pores did on me.
Im also taking a Liver support supplement, it seems to be helping my skin slowly but surely. If you google acne + liver you will get a ton of info on a sluggish liver and acne. It makes sense that b/c you liver filters out all the toxins in your body that if you liver is "sick" your skin will suffer. If you have been on a lot of meds (like accutane) it will really jack with your liver and cause it to not function properly, thus resulting in skin conditions including acne. Worth looking into.
I just tend to think that if you are doing everything right on the outside but still suffer from acne that taking internal factors into account is a good idea. You might want to look into your diet, stress level, exercise (I cant sing the praises of pilates enough), and sleep schedule. Borage oil, biotin, Vit C along with a good mulit vit and my liver support supplement have really been making a difference in my skin. |

It did not do anyhting for my skin.
I would suggest trying a good BHA/AHA combo (from ifeelpretty, or Exfol from DY and Mandelic from DY), then follow with either Healing Serum or Clarifying Serum (both from ifeelpretty) or just plain Emu Oil (mixed with water). It would heal and restore skin barrier without causing clogged pores or acne.
Also, yo have to be very careful with the type of cleanser you are using (some do more harm) - either the one fro Geografx (Azulene or Tea Tree), or from DY or from ifeelpretty work very well.
Made a big difference in my skin.
HTH,
Lucy. |

When I first started using this, it made me break out, but the breakouts subsided after awhile. However, this did nothing for my blackheads....plus it smells baaaaaaaaaaaaad. I won't repurchase. |
