As I have full lips and not so white teeth, I tend not wear lipstick as I didn't want to draw attention to my lips and/or teeth (some shades do make them look more yellow).
When I saw this thingy, I knew I have to get it. It comes in 5 shades and I bought the "Luminous" which is more neutral/Nude shade. It's under $7 for 0.19oz - comes in a nice shiny silver cap, textured tube and soft doe-foot applicator.
Here's the description from Sally Hansen website:
- Lip gloss makes teeth look whiter instantly!
- Specialized color pigments in every shade counteract yellow tones in teeth, making them look whiter.
- Optical Brightening Pearls, Borage and Cornflower Extract help create the effect.
Shiny gloss glides on smooth, not sticky. Botanicals and Vitamins A, C, & E soften and condition dry lips.
- Pleasant vanilla mint flavor freshens breath.
My lips were peeling when I first tried it on and therefore it tingles quite a bit (does not tingle from my 2nd application onwards). It's medium texure and not too sticky. It does have a strong vanilla mint scent/taste but not too overpowering for me as the scent fades gradually (or probably I got used to it). It's pretty opaque when I test it on my hand but as it's closer to my lips shade, I find blending easy as I don't have to be very precise.
When I tried it indoor with my house lights on, it did not make my teeth look whiter. However, once I am out under the natural sunlight, it does makes my teeth look nicer and brighter at least when compared to the two lip products that I owned (Guerlain Kiss Kiss Mango Shine & MAC Tinted Lip conditioner in Soothing Beige). Guess it works only under certain lightings.
It does makes my lips softer. However, just like many glosses, this does not last long. While the reviews on MUA are not great, I personnally would buy it again, unless Carekate comes up with shades that counteract yellow. |

I haven't tried this, but it sounds similar to the lipstick that JoeyNY had out a couple years ago that was supposed to have some blue-based pigment in them to make your teeth look whiter. Of course, I fell for the spiel when I saw the lipstick being demo'd on QVC and ordered a couple tubes. While I liked the lipstick well enough, I didn't really see that it made my teeth look any whiter...of course, that was before I discovered the "tooth whitening ear drops" trick and got my tooth truly whiter! I thought the JoeyNY lipstick was a clever gimmick but I don't honestly believe it worked....
I think that any "cool" (i.e.: blue-based) lip color could provide the same sort of optical illusion as these products claim simply because the blue cancels out the yellow. It's like that computer printer paper you can buy that is a blue-based white or yellow-based white and the former version looks whiter than the other....
HOWEVER!
If I come across this Sally Hansen stuff the next time I'm at Walgreens or CVS, I might just have to check it out...that, and the Revlon lip stain that GuapaGirl told us about a couple weeks ago! |

This stuff sounds great, I also really like the sound of vanilla mint scent But of course it's not yet available where I live & it will probably take months until it will be! |
