So lately I have been a label freak! I have been reading the ingredients on everything I put in and on my body (I am driving my husband nuts!)
So I found an ingredient in some MMU and it just raised a red flag for me. It was avena sativa. I Googled it and Wikipedia said that it was oat. So I started thinking about it. Most MMU doesn't have preservatives in it. If there was oat in my makeup, wouldn't it go bad? Spoiled grains can not be good for your skin!
Has anyone done any research on this? I am very curious! |

In mineral makeup it's Oat flour/Oat Starch. It's a powder. It's used as a filler & it also serves as a humectant. Depending on what it's used for it can also aid in retaining fragrance, it has none of it's own - barely detect a raw oatmeal scent.
It's a superfine powder that feels really nice all on it's own. (I have a big jar of it, I now have in front of me as reference, lol) It's an off-white color.
No preservatives would be required in a product as mineral makeup as it's all powder.
HTH
*ETA - I don't make MMU, so I may have misspoken about the preservatives - but I'm pretty sure this is the case. |
