Hi all,
My sister wrote to me and told me she had a giant zit on her cheek. Massive.
I told her to do an aspirin mask and to take two asprin. She did the mask but now thinks it's worse.
We are having a big surprise 80th birthday party for our dad tomorrow.
Any suggestions for this late in the zit emergency bag of helpful tricks.
Thanks! |

Boy, that doesn't leave much time! I would definantly ice it to help reduce the swelling. If she has a zeno use that and obviously BP. I wish I knew some instant cure!! Hopefully someone else will have some more ideas. Good luck! |

Your timing is perfect. I had to go looking for an emergency answer just the other day. It takes a lot of patience but it works. Absolutely no steps can be left out or hurried. Just have your sister follow these steps exactly. Okay?

Hi Arielle,
I just sent my sister that link. I do hope she has honey or an all night supermarket in her neighborhood. She is really distressed. The whole family will be at this party. I feel her pain, I've been there!
Thanks for your help. |

Arielle, did you do this and it worked? If so, was a small blemish or cystic? I am dying to know if this really works! |

Charis, I'm guessing it was cystic from what I've read here. I've never had one before that I can remember. It was huge, painful and very red and right smack dab in the middle of my chin.
Yes, this did work. It ended up a very tiny red spot (it wasn't a bump because it had mostly shrunk and flattened out) that was easily covered with makeup. Two days later it was completely gone.
I really do hope this works for your sister, joani. |

Charis,
I'll definitely let you know. And I'm also keeping the instructions on hand for those "special occasion" zits that happen all to often! |

Ari, when you did one of the last steps and put cotton balls on either side of the blemish and then brought them together, were you actually squeezing gunk out of the blemish, or just applying pressure and pushing it down? The instructions are a little vague on that point... TIA! |

Liz, when I did this, there was very little gunk left to come out but, yeah, some did. The two cottonballs keep you from cutting or splitting the skin or getting more inflamed. The salt draws most of it to the top and out. That's why you have to hold the soaked cotton ball on for 3 minutes, which seems like an eternity, btw.

Thanks Arielle. I have bookmarked that link for future reference. I have heard of applying salt water to a pimple, but only in cases of ones that already have whiteheads. It would dissolve the skin on top to get the pus out without squeezing. I never tried it myself, but it made sense. But I didn't realize you could use salt water on the cystic type and that it will flatten the pimple. That's good to know. |

"Manuka honey" works way more effectivly than normal honey, because of it's antibacterial properties. If you can't find this, at least use really raw organic honey. |

This prob won't help, but JM's Bioclear actually gets rid of my huge cystic zits when I get them in 24 hours. Completely GONE!
Doubt she has any of that stuff lying around, but it might be a suggestion to her if this happens to her often. She will then have backup, that is if she finds that Ari's fab natural solution didn't conquer that monster!
I hope it does, and I'm wishing her luck! |

I read on the IFP Healing Serum thread that the stuff really works on cystic acne, so I bought it, but haven't had any cystic acne to try it out for myself yet. All the other reviews have been positive though. But Ari's link sounds so easy and all the stuff you already have available just in your kitchen. Seems like that can't be beat. |

That link doesn't work, no matter how many variations I try. I'm desperately curious about this "miracle" cure. Anyone able to copy and paste? |

Vel, It was working. Looks like Yahoo answers is down for a bit. You might want to try it later.

The only product that seems to work for me is the Shiseido pureness blemish gel, it's very expensive for a tiny 15ml container, but practically dries up blemishes overnight! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I've heard you can get a cortisone injection from a derm and the zit disappears, but I've never done this myself (I'm too old to have this problem ) It's a lot of money to spend though... |

I had it done years ago (derm giving a shot, and it certainlt helps, but may take more then a day.
Now, I use IFP Healing Serum if and when needed, and so far it had helped within a day or two.
Will defintely try salt water next time.

Thanks, Arielle! I finally got to read it. Sounds intriguing and I'll give it a shot next month (when I'm sure I'll need it... too late for this month's disaster). |

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of your help and suggestions. My sis didn't have much in her house so she iced it and used some BP.
She did still have a big red zit on her face when she arrived in Florida, but I brought a concealer and MM and I hide that sucker pretty well. The restaurant was dark and she looked great regardless of her zit.
My Dad was totality surprised and we all had a great time together which is what really counts.
The wine helped too!
Thanks again![Image Image](http://friendsforever.foren-city.de/images/smiles/a084.gif) |
