I know people recommend milk of magnesia, but that has a really high pH which is bad for your skin. Does anyone know something which can keep your face matte? Keep in mind, I am a guy I generally get a bit oily starting after 4 hours time.
I hope there is something out there, perhaps a lotion of some sort, or something home made DIY type product |

I would recommend carrying a small container of silk/rice/tapioca powder and dusting on the face whenever you get oil breakthrough. Also just blotting will help remove much of the oil sheen. |

Some kinds of silicone seem to mattify all day: for example the ones in Sofina sunscreens and Skinmedica's C serum. |

Blotting papers will probably do the trick for you. They are tiny little sheets of either linen or synthetic "paper," about business card size. You pat them on your face to soak up the oil without leaving anything on your skin. Leaves my VERY oily skin very matte.
MAC and Mary Kay both make them. But I've also found them in boutique shops and other unexpected places for much cheaper.
They allow you to be discreet and not feel too girly. MAC and Mary Kay's packaging looks fairly gender neutral. But the ones found in the boutiques usually have pictures of Victorian ladies on them. Maybe rip out a few sheets and put them in your wallet instead?
Good luck, hun! |

this isn't DIY, but.... Erno Laszlo Shake-It is just awsome. i know a lot of people trash Laszlo here (or look on it fondly as a "been there, done that" line), but Shake-It is my go-to product over sunscreen in the summer. it mattifies much like MOM, but is much more cosmetically elegant and better for your skin. (just be sure *not* to get a shade that is too dark. the result is hideous!) |
