Okay, I have to admit I have tried a TON of products and have not posted many product reviews. This one I had to post, as I was amazed at how much better the True Cosmetics MMU was in comparision to Jane Iredale. I have been using JI for 5 years or so. With the JI I have used the powder and the compact. I always got the impression it did indeed clog my pores, and actaully irritated my inflamed acne (when it was active).

Recently my skin did its yearly freak out and really broke out badly. When I say badly, I am talking about both cheeks and my entire forhead covered in small pimples (thanks to the really good cleanse I was doing!!).

My skin was feeling REALLY dry and irritated with the JI, so I finally purchased the TC MMU.

I find that the color is a much better match than the JI. I have to thank CareKate, who gave me advice as to which color was most similar to the JI color I was using. The texture of the MMU is really soft and silky. It goes on in a very sheer - extremely good coverage to the point where I am utterly amazed at how good my skin looks - considering!!

Throughout the day my face did not look patchy or flaky, as seems to happen with JI, and my face did not feel irritated in the acne areas. I am so sold on this product!!!!

If you have REALLY reactive skin, this is the MMU for you or if you want really smooth, flawless, light coverage.

I am a recent convert to True pressed powder in medium #1. Quick tip, send a pic of yourself in natural light to the company for a color recommendation! I did and though the medium is a tad light for me, I dust my JI loose in golden glow and have a perfect match! The True also gives a very nice glow. Smile

Big fan here! It's one of my holy grails.

What are the skin care ranges like? Apart from the Idebenone serums that is. Would anyone know if it's worth the splurge? Cheers!

Scally, I think in another post you mentioned that Alima did not work for you. Since you have tried both Alima and True, how do you rate both of them? I find Alima a bit dry, my face feels kind of tight and tingly all the time.

W4 from Alima is a near perfect match for me but I just don't like that tight feel. I makes me conscious that I have something on my face.

Yep, 'tis true. I did try the Alima since, while I love True, it is not an exact match so naturally drives me nuts to try something else. The True texture is divine and I really like it a lot. It is just a tinge too glow-y for my taste, though. I prefer a more matte w/a hint of glow. True does not offer samples, though, unfortunately so I had to resort to sending pics to them for a color match. Consequently, it is not exact - too pink and light.

Alima colors are very, very nice and the customer service is great. For whatever reason, it just did not work on my skin - looked forever dry and a bit chalky-textured (not colored) so I guess we had the same experience except it didn't tingle on me. I initially tried W3 but that definitely looked chalky so I switched to W4 and though the color was more right, it just looked dry and crappy later after wearing it. I also sprayed a setting spray a few times in the application process to no avail.

HTH.

Thanks Scally. I used Alima twice and on both occasions I got one or two red bumps on my face but these bumps disppear after I remove my makeup and put on my moisturizer etc. This also happened to me with Every Day Minerals. I wonder if there is something in the products that's affecting my skin. I think I will give Alima one or two more tries and see if the same thing happens. Otherwise I might have to investigate True Cosmetics.

I'd only give it one more shot, if I were you. Three times should be enough to know whether it's the problem or not. If so, I am sure that something in it does not agree with you.

I also love their foundation powder. I think I tried them all (or almost all), and this seems to be the best so far. They do have some retail locations, so I went to one in NYC, and they found the one which is a perfect match for me. It defintely would not have been the color choosen by me (fair #4).

The skin care did not impress me at all. I tried a few items, and they ended somewhere in a drawer.

HTH,
Lucy.

I know I am not Lucy, but hopefully you will not mind me posting the difference. Bare Minerals contain Mica, and Bismounth (excuse the spelling) Oxy. These products can irrate your pores and cause breakouts. True Minerals do not contain these ingredients. I also found my skin itchy with Bare Minerals and clogged pores, and it was way to shiny for my skin. It looks liked I glowed, had sparkle on my face. Which maybe would not be bad if I was going out to a club in the evening...but I noticed the sparkles would get trapped in my blemishes and make them look worse..horrible in fact. I stay away and have been using True for quite some time. Many many people I have recommended it to and then love it as well.

thanks for your reply, I don't have skin issues, but bare minerals made me look alot older than I am, yuck.....so my real question is does this settle in the lines...ect like bare minerals does? and still laughing over the glitter and nite club....

I do not find that it settles in my pores and cracks and lines. The only time I find this is if I apply to much of it and do not spray my mist to set it in between layers

I could not have said it better.
I also found that this is the only mineral makeup that does not cake on me, slide, turns a different color midday, etc. Several people thought that I was not wearing any makeup at all. I also have combination and very sensitive skin and had no adverse reaction.

I do like the feeling of cream foundation better, but they are so full of nasty chemicals that I try to avoid. Also, in NYC summer - TRUE was a life saviour.

HTH,
Lucy.

do you mean web site to order the product? If so, I order mine RIGHT HERE! If you mean web site for the mist and application, I don't know of one...but I am sure their is one out there. Just remember that the techique of applying mineral makeup is layers. I do a light coat, focusing on my blemishes and all over lightly, spray with my mineral spray. Wait for it to dry and then apply a second coat, a little heavier, not to heavy and spray again to set

There is also one for truecosmetics directly (just add .com).
I would recommend if possible to visit a retail location for a good color match. Or may be get samples.

I was set to get fair#1 or #2, and turned out #4 is so much better. In JI there was no good color match for me - either bisque or natural or light beige and all were a bit off.

Has anyone used Alima's W4 and found a match for it at True Cosmetics?

Otherwise I will have to send a photo to them to try and get a colour match as suggested by Scally as I live overseas and it's not sold here as far as I know.

I agree with you: this is a wonderful foundation!

Though all mineral foundations are great, I was extended a complimentary compact of their pressed foundation (medium). Though I am very fair & rosy naturally, this has proven to be a great Summer shade for me. Kindly note that despite my sun protection, I slightly burn, then tan. Embarassed

After a week's vacation in Cuba last October, Magda commented to myself, "Your skin looks great!" I was wearing the pressed foundation, and had been using True Cosmetics' Balancing Cleanser & Soothing Toner. While R&R does effect the appearance of one's skin, know that this foundation certainly enhanced, if not aided in improving my skin!

Re: dehydrated & drying. I agree. I've tried others, but True Cosmetics' mineral foundation has never dehydrated my skin, nor looked flat/too mattifying. "Radiant" would be the best way to describe my skin, when wearing this product.

Personal note: I always prefer pressed-versions, as they're portable, don't spill (I'm a spazz), and there's less mess.

which colour tone did you use? have you tried this when you haven't had a tan? (i'm a fair and rosy type myself and we're in the dregs of winter here.)

Hi La Vie e.r., I'm struggling with the colour as well but love the consistence and look of the pressed version of the TRUE MMU. It's easy to apply and had no problems to use it on my dry skin.
I had the Fair #2 but it was too pale for me even for winter when i get my "dead face" colour (additionally i'd need a shade which is neither yellow nor pink).

so are you saying that this a true neutral??? i seem to need something that's not yellow nor gray and i typically have enough pink in my face naturally (and have to be careful of it turning orange). can the pressed (love this!) powder be applied lightly so even if it is a touch too pale (may not be for me) it can meld with your skin?

Caspers Mum - Do you prefer True MMU to Amazing Cosmetics MMU? Which one would be better for people with large pores and will not emphasize pores or fine lines?

Thanks.
