when u buy a new product, do u do a test behind the ears just in case ur allergic/ sensitive to it?

i always do it...ever since that horrible time, my face went raw red! but when i read rave reviews on here, order it then when it comes, im soooo excited to try it, but gotta test it and wait 24hrs!

Its always good idea to a test patch. But just keep in mind that sometimes irritations don't necessarily show right away or within 24 hours.

But doing a patch test behind the ears doesn't mean it's the same as on ur face, right? Cuz what if u don't have sensitive ears like your face? Laughing

I know that it's a good idea to do a patch test, but like yeahyeah, I get so excited to try it out that I've never done one. So far I've been lucky and haven't had any breakouts because of it. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself for saying that. I've just washed off the Dr H clay mask for the first time, with no patch test. Shock

I do a test, but I do it on my hand, not behind the ears. I have a very sensitive and reactive skin. I also have allergies to many products, so I have no choice and do the test for each product I buy.

Embarassed I'm guilty in that I hardly ever do patch tests Embarassed I guess I'm taking it for granted that my skin hardly ever reacts to any skincare product. Though if after application I feel the slightest bit of discomfort I'll stop the product at once!

Not ever, but I have really tough, resistant skin and rarely experience irritation from skincare items.

I do test patch - skincare and makeup. But, I do mine in the fold of the arm. Sensitive skin, and I can see it. Not sure how I would tell if it was behind the ear (unless it itched). Great poll!

I never do patch tests either! Shock I know you probably should, but so far I've never had a bad reaction. I never do patch tests either with hair colour ... I hope one day I don't blow up like a balloon because of a bad reaction. Sad I don't seem to have very sensitive skin though so that probably helps.

I really should get into the habit.I have only done a patch test for two products and had no reaction. I have had numerous bad reactions to many products I have used on my face. I am so hard headed, I still havent learned my lesson! Crying or Very sad

I never do and there's been times when I wish I had, like when using glycolic products for the first time or the Juice Beauty items, which I still cannot use.

I never do.

But I have no severe allergies, so I'm not too concerned about a freak allergic reaction, and generally the products I'm using are not too extreme. The Juice Green Apple Peel mask is probably the most intense product I use, and I wasn't too concerned if it turned me bright red the first time I used it, given that I was applying it before bedtime.

If I used something far more extreme, like the at home acid peels, then I would likely do a test patch.

I don't do patch tests either. My problems tend to show up after prolonged use of something, like Green Cream. One test and even one sample tube and I thought I was good to go.

What's this "patch test" thingie you are talking about....never heard of it! Razz

I know I should, especially with dye and acidic face treatments, but I never do. Impatient is my middle name! I'm sure once I have a SEVERE reaction to something I will. Guess I haven't learned my lesson yet! Wink

For me, patch tests are useless. My face does not react the same as the inner part of my arm, behind my ear or elsewhere. Also, my reactions tend not to be immediate but usually after I've used the samples and bought the full size product! Sometimes, the reaction takes even longer. Today I looked at my skin and thought ARGGGHH. It just does not look good and my current skincare products are being evaluated. It's time for a change, and I'm eagerly awaiting the PSF samples!

I don't - also each part of my face is different - my forehead reacts differently to my cheeks, chin, nose etc.
