Hi

Was tempted to buy it but after seeing the demo decided against it. It only does a tiny area at a time (maybe all laser treatments do).

Anyone tried do-it-yourself laser hair removal before?

I saw this but the main thing I noticed was the list of 'not suitable fors'!! It would have been easier to list who it WAS suitable for!! I think all laser hair removal is the same though.
Not something I'll be splurging on.

I was quite tempted as well. But then it did occur to me, if it's PERMANENT removal, why would I need to BUY the machine?!?!

Not sure what you mean. It takes several attempts before long term hair loss and apparently it's a LOT cheaper than getting it done for you.

It's called Salon Essentials Multi Hair Removal Scanning Laser machine and costs £144.60 plus P&P £5.45.

Well they keep labouring the point that it's hair "reduction" not "removal" - in which case I think I would probably stick with waxing. The area it covers is so tiny it would probably take me six months to cover half a leg!

fidge,
It's really really nice to see your hair shedding with no red, inflamed bumps (or worse). Smooooooth skin underneath, no real need for Tendskin or anything. That said, I have no idea what my own long-term reduction/removal prospects are going this route.

I find that comment a bit unnecessary - some of us haven't got £150 to blow on QVC and have to choose something a bit cheaper!

Sorry, fidget. I was just trying to offer you an explanation of the appeal of laser over waxing, and one reason, among many, that some people would opt to go to the extra expense.
There are plenty of things discussed on the forum that I currently couldn't rationalize the expense for, and some that I will probably never be able to afford. (...and I've also done a ton of research on affordable laser in my own city.) I'm sorry if my comment read as dismissive of your own, or of your financial means.
I should add that, depending on one's success with laser, it ends up saving a person $ on waxing if waxing becomes unnecessary altogether or simply less frequent.

Exactly. That's what put me off it.

They only way I WOULD have considered it, was to use it for a month and then send it back! Smile
