Hi Everyone,

I've about come to the conclusion that I probably have candida. I'm EXTREMELY tired all the time and I've been battling constant acne for years. I started out taking hoards of anti-biotics as a toddler for recurring ear and throat infections. Without knowing of the possible risks, I was later on anti-biotics constantly for 4 years in high school from my dumbass derm who assured me it would help my acne.

I'm 27 now and am fed up with my persistent acne and possible chronic fatigue syndrome. When brought up on MUA, and elsewhere, people are automatically opposed to colonics and believe that simply improving the diet is all that's needed. Sorry to be so graphic, but my stool looks somewhat odd- sometimes little clear stringy things in it, and sometimes it's all a light color, like the color of dough, lol. UGH.

Am I crazy for this self-diagnosis? I've gone to several doctors over the years for my fatigue and acne and, of course, they never thought the two could be related. Neither did I until recently, for that matter. I've had blood/hormone tests and all is normal.

For everyone who has had candida, what were your symptoms. I know that chronic yeast infections are indicative of candida but I've never had them.

Those of you who've had colonics: why did you go and what were the results?

I'm so terribly frustrated with my health and my skin. I consider myself pretty damn healthy and usually eat well. This fatigue and acne has to go!!!

Hi, here is the thread for Candida which is in the Lounge Forum, it is a wealth of information and so useful:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=22020

Leigh It is definately all connected, anti-biotics wrecked havoc on my system and I suffered for years from re-occuring Urinary Tract Infections and Candida Overgrowth.
There is so much you can do, all on the thread above.
Oh and I do belive your 'Poo' can tell you a lot too.

Rosebud,
Thanks for your reply. What exactly is my 'poo telling me then? Lol. I'll definitely check out that thread.

A very good book to read on bowel cleansing is TISSUE CLEANSING THROUGH BOWEL MANAGEMENT by Bernard Jensen.

First step: find a good naturopath who can evaluate your physical condition.

I did a series of colonics in the eighties and they really helped me. BUT, and this is a big BUT, you need to find a clinic that properly sterilizes the equipment (if they don't have an autoclave, don't sign up) and uses water that has been put through reverse osmosis. Seriously, do your research. Also, one colonic will not solve the problem if your bowel is the culprit. In our society, people consume a lot of food that has no fibre and this can end up clogging up the bowel, making people constipated, etc. I went twice a week to a clinic operated by a stomach surgeon for half a year. These treatments did amazing things for me, but I was practically ordered to change my lifestyle, also.

When I went for my first colonic, they could barely get 30 ounces of water in my bowel. By the time I was finished, they could get 375 ounces through. I experienced clouds of candida pouring out (white yeast) and old impacted gunk that looked like black rubber tire came out. That was all the fast food that never got eliminated from my body naturally.

My stomach which had looked as bloated as a woman five months pregnant was flat as a board after 6 months of treatments.

You may not need this though. Consult a naturopath.

If candida is your problem, you will need to eliminate all refined flours, sugar products, and dairy. Whole wheat bread is not necessarily good for you as it is also made with refined/milled flour. If you have to have bread, you want sprouted grain bread, nothing else. There are tons of books on candida and many cleansing programs but you have to change your diet or they won't work.

You can take control of your health through diet and exercise. I am absolutely convinced of this through my own experience.

I think it is also importnat to treat your body from within - right kind of flora, etc.

I would start with adding active cultures (Bio-K from Whole Foods is a good source), eat right - lots of leafy vegetables, lean fish or meat (not fried), whole grains like bron rice, buckwheat, etc. Also, you may need to start your day with a fruit shake - fruits with some protein power, and green mix (healthful herbs with fiber). If you do that for a whie you may decide that you no longer need a colonic.

There are issues with colonics, and not all health professionals recommend them (washing out good flora together with bad, etc.). If you have polyps you can not have colonics. Issue of cleanliness is also a very serious.

HTH,
Lucy.

These are very good suggestions also, especially if you do colonics but even if you don't. Bio-K is a very good source.
