I am nearly convinced that I want to try the Quasar Baby but I am concerned with the amount of time it takes to see results. Do you need to put time in everyday? Has anyone had better results with a product instead?
I am 38, fair skinned, very faint lines starting to show. I was hard on my skin when I was much younger...sun damage. I used the Obagi sytem 4 years ago and WOW what a difference. My pigmentation was gone and I had this gorgeous glow AFTER all the redness and peeling subsided. But lately I am noticing a slight loss in firmness. Nothing that is causing sagging...but I am getting worried that I might see some in the next 5-6 years. So I am trying to slow down the aging process. I have been using Skinceuticals serums and SPF's for quite some time and love love them. I use Retin-A micro at night. Dr. Hauschka's eye cream at night and that is some amazing stuff...I won't use during the day b/c it is so greasy.
So, my big question is: Will the Quasar Baby work for me or will another product do the same? I am considering doing Obagi again...I just HATE how I look for a few months and am not up for it right now. Plus I am trying to rebuild my photography business again after moving and I don't want to scare the kids while taking pics
thanks for any tips!!

You might also check into a DPL. Mine came from NCN Skincare and so far I am very pleased with the results I'm getting. |

Some people have posted positive results from using a LightStim. Also check the DPL you sit in front of...
I have the Quasar SP - which costs lots more but takes less time than the Baby Quasar. |

Can I ask what those other items are? Can I do a search on here to find them? |

hi lunarmm ...
I am curious about the time difference between the Baby and the SP. Does the SP do the treatment in 1/2 the time, or 2/3's of the time, that it takes the Baby Quasar to do the same thing?
In other words, is there any way to quantify the time savings? |

Actually, I did read that entire thread when I discovered this board back in February! But I read it with an eye toward one day purchasing the BQ, and I wasn't comparison shopping between the SP and the BQ, if that make sense. I'll go back thru the thread and see if I can't find the answers to my questions, or I guess I could email James. |

Ok, I think I found it. James had posted a link to a promotion that they were offering to upgrade the BQ to the SP (promo no longer available now) and it has a comparison: for the BQ the treatment time is 48 minutes, and for the SP it is 24. So it does sound like the SP does cut the treatment time in about half. But most people who wrote about their treatment times on the BQ sound like they are actually using it less (20-30 minutes every other day but I would imagine that this would translate to half that, or 10-15 minutes every other day, if they had the SP). |

Sorry, I hope I didn't come across as "snippy". It's just that there is a lot of info to process.
The time it takes for the SP head to cover your facial area is less so one treatment takes about 1/2 the time (I guess - I haven't compared) and, on top on that, you actually can use the SP less often - 2 to 3x week is recommended - since it is so powerful.
James is very helpful - if you have specific questions / concerns. |

The main difference for me was that the Quasar seemed to induce my rosacea and got pretty hot on my sensitive skin. Since I do botox and resty or juvaderm I found that it diminished my results quicker, which may not be a concern at all for most people. It also made my skin drier. The baby Q works well enough for me w/o overly drying out or aggrevating my skin, so I went back to it. I did love the Quasar size and it did cover much quicker, but the cons far outweighed the pros for me. The baby along with the IS Clinical Serums is great for sun damage. Have you tried any glycolic peels along with your routine to help with the fine lines? That worked better for me than the retin A which my skin never did adjust to. |

Oh no, I didn't think you sounded snippy at all! I sure hope I didn't sound snippy, either
Despite the time savings, I also think I remember reading where some people who traded up to the SP ended up liking the performance/results that they got with the BQ better, so it's hard to know which one to get ... I guess fortunately (or unfortunately) I still have some time to decide as I am still saving up for this ... |

And I should add that I love my baby Q and have no intention of trading it or trying a new device in place of it, I just hope that for monetary reasons there is something comparable so that everyone can enjoy. My feeling is that if it has a decent warranty and return policy it's maybe worth the risk to someone to try.
There are so many great products (especially the DIY people and their products) and regimes to try that it can always be cheaper to start that way at first if you are in doubt and want to add a device later. |

This device is very interesting for the price! The Nordstrom one wouldn't work for me because I would need all three (lucky me; wrinkles, acne and hyperpigmentation)!
I will probably try to hold out for the BQ or the SP, as I am hoping to be able to afford one of these within the next couple of months. The one on eBay looks like it would take even longer to use than the BQ (hold in each spot for 10 minutes). Still, if I get too impatient, I may end up ordering one of the eBay photon devices just so I have something ... |

Thanks for mentioning that ... I also have rosacea. It is very mild, but heat can trigger flares for me too. If I'm able to start with the SP, maybe I can work out something with James in advance that if it aggravates my skin I can return it for the BQ. |

Cathy_jean, They were very nice and did return it for me when I called. No questions asked, very prompt return of my Baby Q. I felt that I owed THEM an explanation, because my complaint was not with the Quasar at all. My overly sensitive skin just couln't handle it and it's strange because the baby helps my rosacea and doesn't dry at all, but the Quasar aggrevated everything. I still wished James would come up with a cross between the baby and full-sized Q! |
