I've been sampling various brands lately, trying to find the best shampoo & conditioner for dry hair. My hair is long (mid-back), straight, and dry. I do color-treat it every 3 months or so to cover the emerging gray...but try to keep it fairly close to my natural color. A little lighter in the summer.
Anyway, I am looking for a shampoo and conditioner that will moisturize my dry hair, smooth the fly-away ends, without weighing it down.
Hoping you guys can send some suggestions my way. Right now I am thinking of try Ojon or Nexxus. It seems most store-brands I've tried work well for a week or two but after that they just stop working.
Any suggestions????? |

Right now I'm on Biolage products, which I like quite a bit. My hair is medium length, very dry, and naturally wavy. I use the Moisturizing shampoo, alternate between Color Care conditioner and the Ultra-Hydrating balm, and I could not live without the Hydrating leave in creme.
Things I've used in the past that work: Neutrogena Triple Moisture line, Redken All Soft line... |

Hi! Here are the best ones I've found for dryness:
Shampoo: Best Bath Store Moisture Rich Shampoo. This is seriously the most hydrating shampoo I've EVER used. After I use it my hair is so soft I feel like I could almost skip conditioner. It's very gentle too--- it won't strip color, and it's great for a dry scalp.
Conditioner: Alba Hawaiian Mango Moisturizing Hair Conditioner. It's VERY thick and sometimes hard to squeeze out of the bottle, but if your hair is seriously dry it will help it a lot. Very nice juicy scent too.
HTH! |

PHYTO Jojoba Shampoo is good for dry hair and the smell is delicious.
I'm interesting to try Rene Furterer, does anyone have comment on it? |

My hair was fried from color. I used Aveda Sap Moss products and was amazed how they returned my hair to healthy & shiney again in no time! There is a pre shampoo deep healing conditioner, I highly recommend along with the shampoon & regular conditioner. You have to use a lot of water with the shampoo to get a good lather and the smell is earthy, but you will get excellent results! |

Try Biolage hydratherapy conditioning balm. I have been using it for a week, and I do see results right away. It claims that it is designed to nourish and repair dry and stressed hair. I frequently go swimming and this conditioning balm makes my hair so smooth and soft. |

massage warmed up olive oil to your scalp and your hair once a week. Leave it on for atleast an hour. Then beat an egg. Massage the required amount to your scalp and shampoo it off after 5-7minutes.
I find this to be the best for healthy, shiny hair. |

I second Best Bath Store Moisture Rich Shampoo if you want to go the natural way and want "natural soft" hair.. That's not loaded with chemicals and silicones. Aveda Sap Moss pre-shampoo healing treatment is also very good for fixing up dry hair, I use this when my hair feels extremely dry. |

If short of time, just doing the olive oil treatment will be good enough. Olive oil is one of the best oils for skin and hair.
Shampoo & conditioner - I find REN very good. |

I second the Aveda treatment. It doesn't really matter what shampoo or conditioner I use, but as long as I use this before shampooing, my hair is softer, shiny and healthier looking. |

I liked Ojon Hydrating shampoo and cond...its expensive. I'm using Nourish Shampoo and cond right not and i'm loving it...best part...its $2.50 at trader joes. It was recommended to me here and I'm so happy with it. I have also had great results from L'Oreal Nutri Gloss...makes my hair super shiny and soft (but it breaks my face out).
Oh...one more thing...Weleda Rosemary Oil is fantastic...I leave it on over night and shampoo in the am. Makes your hair super shiny and healthy feeling. |

i was using Biolage for a while but noticed that my hair started falling out (more than normal). I've heard that washing your hair with a apple cider vinegar does wonders for dryness and add a very healthy natural sheen tho... |

Modern Organic Products C-System Hydrating shampoo is hands down the best shampoo I've ever tried. I have really dry, frizzy and coarse hair, and it's the only shampoo that leaves my hair really soft and shiny. Phyto Phytojoba Intense Nourishing shampoo and Nexxus Therappe are pretty good too.
As for conditioners, I really like Modern Organic Products C-System Hydrating conditioner and Aubrey Organics Honeysucle Rose conditioner. Nexxus Humectress is also a good conditioner if your scalp/skin can handle the mineral oil it contains. |

I know this is kind of off topic, but I've heard that washing your hair every other day (as opposed too daily) will help dry hair as well. |

Creme of Nature is a beautiful shampoo for dry hair, it has really helped me. It contains hydrolyzed milk protein, wheat germ oil, honey and lots of other natural ingredients. It leaves my hair moisturised and bouncy and smells gorgeous. It is £2.95 for 450 ml, so also a cheap thrill. |

My hair was terribly dry this past winter. It really benefited from a once-a-week oil treatment. (I used Dr. Hauschka Neem Hair Oil.) Also, I just discovered the Dr. Hauschka shampoos and conditioner. The Sea Buckthorn and Apricot (made for dry hair) did an excellent job of cleansing without stripping, and the Marshmallow conditioner left my hair glossy and less inclined to break. |

Kerastase treatments for dry hair are good.
I also use tigi moisture manic shampoo and conditioner. Very good but can be expensive. |
