So I got IFP's new Mattifying Pearl Cream with added silk powder. To anyone who's used this, do you find that it leaves a greyish cast? Even with my MMU on, the grey tint is quite visible. I'm also having problems with spreadability. I tried adding a drop of water to my pea sized amount and it does spread but very unevenly. It sort of feels like I'm applying it on some parts of my face while the rest gets pretty much just pearl water. I hope I'm making sense. There are also tiny bits and pieces that I have smooth out with a wet finger, and to me it is too time-consuming especially in the morning when I just want to rush out the door; I can't really check my whole face for bits and pieces left behind. For those reasons I've given up using it as a primer and just use it at night. I wonder if Mary's pearl paste is "creamier". |

Hi Dollbird,
Hopefully, Kim can help you with the problems you are having with your IFP cream (maybe just a bad batch?) but to answer your questions about Mary's Silken Pearl...I have never had any problems with any chunks or bits in her cream. Her cream is very smooth-textured and almost has a whipped quality. HTH! |

I've been using IFP's pearl cream with no problems. Sometimes I spritz my face and then add a smaller than pea sized amount of the pc to my damp face. No problems. I've also mixed the two in the palm of my hand and applied that way as well. Again, no issues. I tend to be fair/medium skinned and haven't noticed a white or grey cast to my skin. I did however use Carrie's first generation pearl paste several times and noticed I got a white cast and some bits and pieces. I assumed that was due to the paste consistency and decided I needed for of a cream texture. I've found Kim to be very experienced and helpful and she responds quickly to emails as well. She's been formulating skincare for quite awhile and I have faith she can help you out.

Do you mean whipped creamy..? Because mine is not creamy and soft at all, the texture is rather firm. I think the texture is suppose to be firm not creamy soft for IFP's.
Dollbird, I spritz my face with distilled water before applying IFP pearl cream. It helps a lot but it's also time consuming for me so I only use it at night time too. I do get some tiny bits but not a lot. I use the moisturizing one so I don't get uneven areas like you do. My sister uses Mary's pearl paste (basic) and she says her's really WHIPPED CREAMY and is extremely fast and easy to apply.
At the moment, I am happy with IFP Pearl Cream because it has helped my face a lot (I do wish that it would be less time consuming for me to apply though). My sister is also happy with Mary's. HTH! |

Hmmm. I only use mine in the AM as I like to use the Rejuvenating Serum at night. I use dmae, my Line Eraser, spritz face or hand and apply PC. TM comes next. I don't have a lot of time to waste and I find it easy. Dollbird, how much are you actually applying to get that greyish cast?

Sorry Kimberly, what is TM? I like to spritz my face than my hand, lol. It's more refreshing and easier that way for me. |

Lisey,
TM is tinted moisturizer.
I had asked Kim from IFP about the consistency of the PC and Mattifying versions. What she emailed me is below. Hope this helps those of you with questions who've not yet emailed Kim.
I tried making the product lighter in consistency - but when the weather warmed up for a bit, customers in warmer climates had problems with the lighter consistency product becoming watery. So I knew I had to 'fix' that or I wouldn't be able to sell the product in the summer.
The moisturizing version is now 'fluffier' - but still applies best with water. The mattifying version is 'heavier' but that is so that it retains it's mattifying properties. If you put a tiny bit in your palm, add a few drops of water & mix - you can then apply a very thin layer to the face - this takes just a few seconds. Neither cream should be visible when applied - if it is, you've applied too much.

I got this via email this morning since I subscribed to IFP's newsletters. So I'll post instructions here as it seems applicable:

It has come to my attention that some people are having difficulty applying their Pearlfection Creams properly. In an effort to assist with this problem, I have updated the instructions on the website, printed new instruction sheets to be distributed with the creams, and I am sending out this email to newsletter subscribers.
Please, please, please - if you ever have problems or questions about any of the products - email me. I will be happy to help!
Thanks!
Kim
Pretty Pearlfection Creams
How to use: These products are called 'creams', but their consistency is not that of a typical cream. The Moisturizing Cream is a thick, whipped cream and the Mattifying Cream is a slightly firm cream. I recommend following the ‘thinnest products first’ routine. If you need to apply BHA, AHA, or anything that has the consistency of water, or a gel, you should apply those prior to Pearlfection Cream.
Both Pearlfection creams apply most easily with some water. There are several ways to do this:
1) Dampen your face with water, then quickly & lightly apply a half pea-sized amount of the Pearlfection Cream. A thin coat works best.
2) Get a half pea-sized amount of Pearlfection Cream on your fingertip, then wet your finger with a gentle stream of water (you don't want to wash the cream off your finger, you just want to moisten it), and quickly apply a thin layer to face (can also be applied to neck & chest if desired). A thin coat works best.
3) Put a half pea-sized amount of Pearlfection cream in your palm, add a few drops of water, mix together, then apply a thin layer to face. A thin coat works best.
I find the third method to be the easiest, but whatever works for you is fine. Applying without water may result in too much product on face, which can leave an obvious film. If you can see the cream, you have applied too much. Remember - the key is to apply a THIN layer of the Pearlfection Cream - more is not better.
If additional moisturization is desired, another moisturizer may be applied on top of the Pearlfection Moisturizing Cream, but allow the Pearlfection cream to absorb well first. Applying another moisturizer over the Mattifying Cream may diminish the mattifying effect, so you can try putting a moisturizer under it, if needed. It is normal for your skin to feel ‘tight’ for a few minutes after applying the Pearlfection creams – it is not drying your skin – this is the way the pearl powder feels as it tightens your skin & clears your pores.

I have tried applying with water, in fact I think I've used too much water to try to water down the 'cream'. I also followed the printed instructions that came with the package and still experience the same thing. I find that if I mix it with aloe vera gel, it's more spreadable. But even with a miniscule amount, a grey cast is still visible (somehow MMU makes this more apparent). I'm trying Mary's next. Thank you to all who've tried to help. |

Hmmm, how odd. I wear MMU, too & haven't experienced this at all. After I apply, it completely disappears & dries to a clear, matte finish. I use both the mattifying & moisturizing creams - and I've used both the formulas with/without silk.
It makes me wonder if something else you're using is perhaps 'reacting' with the Pearlfection Cream, causing it to 'stick' to your skin.
I'm sorry it's not working for you. Luckily, you have other sources to try. |

I'm really confused. Perhaps it is my LM MMU (the grey cast is not so apparent without my MMU). I'll continue to use this at night. Thanks Kim. |

Do you have a dark complexion?
That's the only other thing I can think of. I am very fair naturally - but I almost always have a light/medium sunless tan. However, my skin color is still a lot lighter than some. |

Hi
Can I ask what results you ladies are seeing with the pearl creams and how it has helped your skin, is there any noticable difference? |

Mardy,
There's several threads in the diy/home business section for pearl creams. From what I've read there it seems to be helping many who have acne. That's not a problem for me so for me it's a lovely moisturizer and I feel it gives a pretty base coat for my tinted moisturizer. I've only been using it for three weeks so I don't expect results this soon. There is one exception - I broke a capillary and this seems to be taking the red away.

My face looks more clear. I think the pearl cream helps exfoliate my skin better and also deflates/dries all my pimples. LOVE IT! |

do you all use the pearl cream on bare skin? Like after cleasning and toning. I was thinking of using a IFP serum before it. But I read that pearl cream should be applied as closest to the skin as possible. |

Yup, I use it on bare skin and under my MMU when I go out. |

Faeri,
I'm using the pc in the am and my IFP serum in the evening. I've also tried the serum in the morning after the pc. I've not decided yet which I prefer. Which serum are you using?

Pearl cream first, then the clarifying serum. Pearl cream should go right next to the skin. The clarifying serum would create a barrier between the cream and your skin if you put that on first. |

During the day, I like a more matte look, so I use the mattifying cream, then my clarifying serum, then I brush on a light dusting of the primer powder.
At night, I want to nourish my skin - so I use the moisturizing cream, then the rejuvenating serum. |
