I LOVE the Rose Day Cream for my incredibly dry skin, but it's TOO expensive!
Help me find a cheaper alternative, please, I beg of you. I need something that's just as thick and moisturizing.
Here are the ingredients for the Rose Day Cream:
Water (Aqua), Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) Oil, Althaea officinalis Extract, Beeswax (Cera flava), Avocado (Persea gratissima) Extract, Hypericum perforatum Extract, Shea (Butyrospermum pakii) Butter, Rose (Rosa gallica) Wax, Lecithin, Rose (Rosa gallica) Petal Extract, Rose (Rosa canina) Hip Extract, Fragrance (essential oil)
Should I try 100% Shea Butter or Beeswax?
This will be for night use so I don't care about greasiness.
Thanks! |

I think CeraVe sounds good, thick, moisturising and really cheap. I haven't used it because I'm not in the US, but I recommended it to another user and she seems to like it

It's got ceramides which should help with water loss more than oils.
but maybe you're just looking for something natural - not sure. |

Hi spa cake! When my skin was suffering in cold Minnesota winters, Beauty Without Cruelty's Maximum Moisture Cream saved it. It's on sale at drugstore.com right now for about $11 too--- not too shabby! Here are the ingredients:
Organic botanical infusion (calendula, lavender, chamomile), organic shea butter, organic avocado oil, vegetable glycerin, kukui nut oil, mango butter, glyceryl stearate, organic jojoba oil, sodium hyaluronate (powerful moisturizer), sodium pca (natural moisturizer), lecithin liposomes (time-release anti-oxidant extracts: green tea, grapeseed, gingko biloba), sorbitol (natural moisturizer), organic rosehip seed oil (rosa rubiginosa), stearyl alcohol (from coconut oil), organic tamanu oil (calophyllum inophyllum), sorbitan stearate, olive squalane, stearic acid (from coconut oil), vitamin E (natural d-alpha tocopherol), vitamin A (retinyl palmitate), vitamin C (ascorbic acid), oat protein, panthenol (vitamin B factor), allantoin (skin-healing), organic borage oil, organic aroma-therapeutic essential oils of Rose Bulgarian, Lavender, Rose Geranium, Frankincense, beta carotene (pro-vitamin A), phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, citric acid
It's very rich and very thick, and it totally gets the job done if you've got seriously dry skin. HTH! |

Wow, that thing is loaded with ingredients. I think it would irritate me skin, esp the vitamin c. |

I know, it totally looks loaded for bear, but it's actually quite mild. My skin can't take vitamin C (or much else for that matter) and I didn't have a problem at all using it. However, if you're looking for something heavy duty with fewer ingredients, why not try Burt's Bees Baby Bee skin creme? It's also around $10, and the ingredients are very simple:
Sweet Almond Oil, Water, Beeswax, Aloe Barbadensis Gel, Kaolin (natural clay), Grapefruit Seed Extract, Carrageenan (Irish moss), Fragrance, Sodium Borate (natural borax), Glucose, Glucose Oxidase & Lactoperoxidase (sugar & natural enzymes), Tocopherol (vitamin E)
I had some eczema I used this on and it was great stuff! |

If you like Dr H, you may also like Weleda's products. Here are a couple of suggestions:
Weleda EVERON Face Balm.
"This rich, moisturizing facial cream provides powerful protection from harsh elements. Sweet Almond Oil and Beeswax moisturize and protect. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts when skin is in need of extra moisture or for use daily. Perfect for sensitive skin. Use in combination with EVERON Lip Balm."
Ingredients: Water, Sweet almond oil, Peanut oil, Beeswax, Glyceryl linoleate, Fragrance (natural essential oils), Hectorite
OR
Weleda Wild Rose Moisture Cream.
"A soft, light and easily absorbed cream for all skin types. Organic Rosehip Oil (Rosa Moschata) and precious organic Jojoba Oil protect and nourish the skin. Plant extracts of Orpine, Horsetail and Myrrh support the natural repair processes of the skin, helping to create a radiant complexion."
OR
Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream.
"A nourishing, quickly absorbed day cream that stimulates the skin and protects normal to dry skin against dryness. Organic Rosehip Oil (Rosa Moschata), deeply nourishing Peach Kernel Oil and gentle Sweet Almond Oil balance the skin and strengthen the protective function of its natural oil mantle. The skin feels smooth and supple, glowing with a healthy radiance."
(couldn't find the ingredients listing for the last 2)
They are a little bit less expensive than Dr H so you it might be something to lool into. I would suggest trying out some samples at your closest holistic or health store. |

And here are the ingredients:
Pure, distilled rose water, certified organic shea butter, rose hip seed oil, organic rose hips, organic red bush tea, rose absolute, seabuckthorn CO2, phenooxyethanol (paraben free preservative)
Use the code Minus3 for $3 off! |

You could try Australia's A'kin range. they have a US online store too.
Their Lavender & Rose Repairing Anti-oxidant Night Creme is just US$32 for 1.7oz tub

It is a truly fabulous range that is very underrated (has not achieved the cult status it deserves) |
