Americans: you've known him as "John Roberts" since his days on CBS. However, I cannot help but ... giggle at his adopted mid-western, American accent since then. (he's purposely dropped the rounded-o's & inflections of Ontario)
To myself, he will always be "J.D. Roberts", as he was known 25 years-ago, when MuchMusic launched in Toronto, 1984.
Goodness, I still remember him as the guy whom loaned his boat to Platinum Blonde for their Crying Over You video, in 1985! Canadian 80's group. Roberts: "You bring the beer, I'll bring the boat!" Don't believe me??

OMG!! LOL!!! Every time I see him on CNN I snort! I recently heard him respond when asked about his home of birth with something like, "Oh, as you know, I was born in Canada but I AM an American citizen now" He said it as though he would have been catapulted out of his seat if he hadn't traded his Canadian * spam * in for an American one! Anyways, I am with you...I cannot shake his J.D. persona - it is forever etched in my wild 80's mind! He will forever be J.D. Roberts, Muchmusic VJ to me! LOL!!

Roberts became an American citizen about four years ago, after working there for about eight.
He worked/lived within the U.S. for about eight years prior to his application for dual/U.S. * spam * being approved. He holds Canadian and American * spam *:)
Still, the Platinum Blonde reference makes me laugh at MYSELF, for remembering such utter shite. |

Haha! I remember him from MuchMusic too! And back then ... I LOVED Platinum Blonde. Mark Holmes at the time ... yummmmm. But now I look back on that video and have to laugh at that hair, but at the time I thought he was "oh so sexy!" ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |
