... from my beloved IS Clinical! I'd been using the Super Serum and the Active last fall and had really great results ... less breakouts meaning less picking at my face ... overall my skin was starting to look pretty good. Then I was enticed away by reading reviews on Ice Elements and started using that line almost exclusively for the past fews month. But after suffering from more acne again, which meant more picking (yes, I know ... bad, bad habit ), I had to realize it just wasn't working that great for my skin. My problem though I think is that I was too impatient to cut back all the products and just add one in at a time to see if there was a specific problem. I do think they have some good products and I'm still using their eye cream, two of their cleansers and the 2MM the odd time.
SOOOO ... it was back to IS Clinical and what a great decision it was! I ordered the Firming Cream, Moisturizing Complex, Sunscreen SPF20 and the Poly-Vitamin Serum. I'd still had some Active Serum left over from before and the Hydra-Cool. Instead of the Super Serum, I'd bought the Vivier 20% a short while ago, as it had good reviews and it was cheaper (I may, or may not go back to the Super Serum ... I did really like it at the time, but I was concerned it might turn too quickly before I was able to use it up and reviews on the Vivier seemed to say it didn't turn as quickly).
Now, after starting ISC again, in a few days I can really notice a difference again in the breakout area ... all my old spots are drying up and there's no new stuff to pick at. And my face is so smooth! Although I think I may have overdone it the first while and should have started more slowly into my routine; today I can tell my cheek area is feeling very irritated and pink (and I rarely have reactions to products ... it reminds me of what I had professional microdermabrasion done and your skin can get very irritated at first). The past few nights I've been using the Firming Cream over the Active at night (topped with the moisturizing complex), so I think I need to alternate nights for those two products or maybe even add a day off in between. That's the reason I purchased the Poly-Vitamin serum was to use it when I wanted to give my skin a break from the other products (as I thought I'd read somewhere that is what it could be used for). I haven't read too many reviews on the Poly-Vitamin serum ... has anyone else used it? Thoughts?
Anyway, this is my current routine I'm going forward with:
AM:
Ice Elements Refining Cleanser or Yonka Gel Nettoyant (alternate days)
Remergent Microcirculation Therapy (around eyes)
Remergent Clarifying Concentrate (spot treat)
Vivier Vitamin-C High Potency Serum 20
IS Clinical Hydra-Cool (if I feel I need extra moisture)
Ice Elements Eye Cream
Innovative Skincare Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 20
PM:
Ice Elements Gel Cleanser or Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
Remergent Microcirculation Therapy (around eyes)
Remergent Clarifying Concentrate (spot treat)
IS Clinical Active Serum (alternate days)
IS Clinical Firming Complex (alternate days)
IS Clinical Moisturizing Complex
Ice Elements Eye Cream
Weekends: IS Clinical Poly-Vitamin Serum in place of other actives (to give skin a "break")
Once/weekend: PSF MicroCrystal Resurfacing Cream (which at this point I don't even need considering my face is so smooth it doesn't seem to have anything more to exfolite!)
BTW ... initial thoughts on the Moisturizing Sunscreen (this is another one there weren't many existing reviews for) is pretty good. I have combo skin and I find this doesn't make me super shiny, and I like the fact I can moisturize and put on sunscreen in one step. And so far, no breakouts either. I haven't been outside for great lengths of time to test the sunscreen effectiveness and I have a Remergent SPF30 sunscreen I may use instead if I'm going to be outside for a greater length of time.
So my lesson to myself in all this is ... if you're happy with what you're currently using, don't get sidetracked into trying something else that you'll be less happy with! It's so hard though because it's fun to try new products and reading positive reviews makes you want to try everything because what IF there is something better. But for me, I'm going to do my best to stick with ISC from now on which seems to work really well with my skin. These are really awesome, highly effective products ... at least they are for me (since everyone's skin is different).
I was just so excited about my results from this line, that I had to tell ya'll! I put this here, in the skincare forum rather than review, because I've only started using some of these products so too soon to give a thorough review. |

Moonstarr, I have recently started trialling a full size IS Clinical Youth Complex and I will review once I have finished the container but I am impressed with the product. There have been some negative comments on the samples which I now don't understand. Just thought I would let you know not to forget about this IS Clinical product as it does not cause breakouts on oily skin, is moisturising and does seem to have a small wow factor which I just haven't been able to put a description to as yet. |

Thanks Bushy! (Skinterra Skin Analysis) had suggested this for me for the morning (after the Super), and it was definitely one item I was possibly considering down the road. I look forward to reading your review.
One thing I read on the IS Clinical website last night was they suggest you alternate treatment products every few months. I'd bought the Poly-Vitamin to use as a break from the other products here and there, but I'm wondering if maybe once my Active is finished, I'll use the Poly-Vitamin in place of it for atleast a month or so before I go back on the Active. And then possibly switching to Youth Complex in place of the Vitamin C serum in the AM for a little while, although I'm not sure I should completely stop the Vit C during that time? I just want to make sure my skin never gets used to any one thing so I keep it on it's toes. |

Moonstarr, I have heard similar from my dermo. He said that laying after layering is too much for the skin and only so much a product can do. So, I got rid of most of my skincare products several years ago. Whatever I applied, I made sure that it was no larger then a size of a nickle. My doctor said not to apply so much of one product.
When shopping for skincare products, know what you need and the top three ingredients will tell you if the label promises matches the ingredient list. If there is a product that promise to tone, purge moisturize and protect all in one, then you know that one product can't do all.
Personally, I think Moonstarr is right to alternate but I would not do it every other day. Maybe every three months because I also remember that my doctor said that it takes three months to notice a difference with medical prescription skincare products. Sometimes with over the counter/cosmetic products, it takes longer because the strength is not as high as prescription.
I prefer to use stronger skincare products during PMS because I get cystic acne. |

Moonstarr, I think you are probably better off staying with the morning Vit C as there are so many qualified opinions these days touting the benefits of Vit C. Then you could use the Youth Complex over the top. At night you could use the Poly Vitamin with the Youth Complex over the top. Once you have used up a container of Youth Complex then you could revert to previous ISC products. I don't know how long the Youth Complex will last as it is in a metal container and I can't see the level of contents. I am using it twice a day and I expect it will last a couple of months. |
