The makeup I've used most of my adult life, Revlon New Complexion is great in the summer, but I need something more moisturizing in the wintertime. I've tried mineral makeup, but I find it dries out my skin too much. Since I'm dryer in the winter I need something more moisturizing. I was thinking maybe the Dr. H one that you just mix into your moisturizer? Has anyone tried this? I hate the heavy makeup feel, so I prefer something light, yet moisturizing.
I'm also looking for a different type of cheek blush, maybe a gel or cream formula...it seems the powder one I've been using is drying also. TIA! Have a great day! |

I have dry, mature skin, but it's not very sensitive. Here are the ones that I found to be light and not drying. Hope this helps - maybe you could try them out in a store or get hold of samples to see if they suit your own skin?
Laura Mercia Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser (gives light to medium coverage, not at all heavy, though you'll need to wear a moisturiser underneath if you have dry skin like me)
Dr Hauschka Tinted Day Cream (only comes in one shade, but tones down on most people's skin colour; very light coverage that will help even out skintone)
Dr Hauschka Bronzing Concentrate (be careful not to mix too much in unless you want to look very tanned! But does help give a light, more even toned coverage)
Givenchy Subli'mine Liquid Foundation (lovely, light to medium coverage that doesn't feel heavy or drying; enhances look of skin, too)
Chanel Vitalumière Liquid Foundation (a slightly heavier feel on the skin than the Givenchy one, but gives a non-drying, nice glow)
If you find these to make your skin a little shiny, there are some really good translucent powders you can lightly dust on top.
I like:
Dr Hauschka Translucent Loose Powder
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder
CareKate's Silk Lavender Dust |

Ooooh, nearly forgot that you wanted blush recommendations too!
I really, really love Stila Rouge Pot. It's a creamy mousse texture that blends beautifully into the skin (you only need a little at a time), is non-drying and looks very natural. |

I agree, tinted moisturizers are always the best for "older" skin. And if you can find one with an spf 15 thats even better. |

My favourite is Dr Hauschka Foundation. I've been using this for years and years and still love it as much as I did on day one if not moreso now. I've tried the tinted day cream and find it a little too dark for my skin tone (I have fair skin) but it works well in the summer when I'm tanned. The only problem is it's a little too rich for me in the summer in terms of moisturizing so I just stick to my Dr H foundation. If you're looking for something more moisturizing than the foundation I would suggest the tinted day cream and if you want more coverage than apply the foundation over top. I've also tried a sample of the bronzing concentrate. It is also a little too dark for me and I have not yet mastered the miniscule amount I would need to mix with my day cream. LOL
Another great line is Jane Iredale. If you're not too fond of the powder mineral makeup than you might want to try her liquid mineral foundation. They contain excellent ingredients. The blush shades are very falttering as well so I'm sure you'll find something you like. She really does make an excellent line of cosmetics and besides my Dr H makeup JI is the only other line I'm using now. |

my mum has the same problem but she has now pinched by maybelline mousse foundation. I am surprised because it is more matte-like, but a little goes a long way and it sits well over a good moisturiser without the need to powder too. |

Hello
My mom is 67 and swears by Orlane's foundation (the one in the pot)...and her skin always looks dewy...You might want to check out Lancaster as well - gives a nice, soft look to the skin.... but I have to give top rave to Orlane's foundation - it is a beautifully textured whipped mousse and goes on like a dream. The only drawback I think is the colour selection - I don't think (but I could be wrong)that they have an incredibly broad colour selection (you can buy it here at EDS)Also: if you aren't silicone sensitive you could try a silicone foundation primer (Smashbox has a very popular one)--you can always count on a good primer to transform mediocre foundation into something that looks/feels better on the skin. Faceatelier has a silicone based foundation that is nice as well...it is very sheer and imparts a really clean, radiant finish.
Good luck,

I second the FACE atelier vote! It literally has a built-in primer, and unlike mineral foundations, doesn't look crepey on mature skin. In fact, this stuff glides on, and gives an incredible finish to one's skin! |
