| Okay so I have big time problem skin, which is way too oily, and when it gets dried out from products it breaks out even more. I like to wear makeup, but it seems like every kind I try breaks out my face. I used to use Maybelline Shine Free or something like that, but they created a new kind, and discontinued the old kind. THings like that always happen when you find something good! So anyways, I am using the proactiv now, and the makeup, and my face has been breaking out horribly around my mouth, but the rest of face is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am sick of wasting money on makeup |

Have you tried mineral makeup? There's plenty of threads about the different brands if you search. It's not for everyone, but I think for some of us it's a matter of finding the right brand. I really liked Alima and recently I tried Laura Mercier and it's now my fav! (Laura Mercier has more of a "glow" then the Alima).
Just one suggestion ... hopefully others will have other ideas for you to try.  |

| I use mineral mu. I've tried BE, Alima and more recently Luminere. I love Alima! The samples are priced very reasonable and give you a couple of days of product. Good luck~~~ |

liquid foundation, esepcially drugstore foundation, is essentially inviting acne over for a tea party on your face if you're prone to breakouts. either give mineral makeup a go (there are drugstore brands if you're looking for an immediate fix, such as physician's formula) or try upgrading to to a higher quality liquid and see if that makes a difference for you -- I am acne prone prone but do not have oily skin, so I'm not sure what to recommend there. I like Laura Mercier personally.
as other posters have mentioned, lots of mineral makeup companies will send you samples for cost of shipping -- try alima, everyday minerals, etc.
just google them to find their websites. |

I'm combo (oily in summer) and breakout prone. I love using Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (oil free) with a dusting of Everyday Minerals Matte (MMU) formula.
It gives me great coverage but it doesn't look like I'm wearing any makeup! |

32, Fair Skin, combo/break-out prone. Simple routine of REN No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm and Argan oil as a moisturizer; Clarisonic when needed. That's it! |

You should try mineral makeup. Liquid foundation is not good if you have breakouts easily. It doesn't even give a good even tone if you have large pores as it penetrates into pore giving more patchy look and doesn't give smooth look.
I also have same issue and liquid foundation doesn't work for me. |

| I too have acneic skin so I try to stick to MMU since it has less fillers. So far I like LMs the best. If you prefer liquid, you could also try Lycogel (aka Dermacia). It is designed to allow your skin to breath, so it won't clog your pores like traditional liquid foundation. Another option is to use airbrush makeup. Since it uses a fine mist, the foundation doesn't settle into & clog your pores like regular liquid foundation. I am awaiting my SK-II & hoping that it won't cause a break out. |

| I agree with many of the previous posts. Mineral makeup is probably a good choice for you. It has a much more natural feel and doesn't seem like there is a 'mask' on the skin (like some of the products on in drugstores). I hope it works out for you. |

| I have tried Sheer Cover which is supposed to be a mineral makeup, but it broke my face out..worked great at first, but afterwards was horrible. What kind would work better? I find that powders are always breaking my face out, but if someone has another suggestion for mineral makeup I will give it a try. |

Mineral Make up only makes my pores more clogged and makes the blemishes look worse. I swore by mineral make up for a very long time because I could get great coverage. I am working on week two now, without wearing any powder. Only conceler on a few of my left over blemishes or red spots from scars (I get hives also). In a week and half I have not had ONE breakout or clogged pore. I have been working over the last week to steam my face four times a week and clean out my pores and amazingly enough, they are staying clean. No clogged pores, which was my biggest problem because the clogged pores sometimes turned to full blown zits. My face gets shiny during the day (but did with mineral make up too) the only difference is I can actually pat my face with a tissue and not be distrubing make up, because I don't have any on. I have received more compliments in the last week and half, more than my entire life.  |
