Sometimes I feel like by whole life is dominated by trying to conceal faults on my face. I have tear troughs that I can't do much about but they are so dark without concealer and then I have to contend with continually trying to blot the shine on my face created by Anthelios and my own facial oils! A bit of shine on my face used to look good but nowadays it just highlights the fact that my cheeks are starting to descend.
I don't usually feel like this, I must be premenstrual but I'm flipping fed up. Does anyone have any suggestions? For the face, that is, chocolate will have to satisfy the PMS. |

Welcome. I too have obsessed with my face, oils and lines so much that times I hide in my bed when I would rather go have fun, but my skin looks awful which in return my hair or clothes or body does not look good either. I look around to people that look good without doing much and think, wow my life would be so great if I could have skin like hers. But the fact of the matter is, my skin is not all that bad. Yes I have some oils and breakouts and lines, but I have recently discovered that I am causing my own pain. One by simply trying to cover up my skin with mineral make up only to find out that I am the one causing it to look worse. I am blessed with oily skin (I say blessed) because girl you will have less wrinkles in the long run if your skin is more oily than dry. I had to STOP looking in the mirror. My suggestion on the skin, try using one or two key products to keep your skin under control in the oily department. The more products and more so, oil fighting products you use, only makes your skin more oily. When washing your face, try a more cooler water temp and pat dry your face. I like to spritz my face during the day (which now I can do all day since I don't wear any makeup) it helps the shine and helps my skin look more refreshed. My last tip is STAY on this site. I have learned SO VERY much from the lovely people here. I know if I need a question answered or have a problem that I need a quick fix for. I come here. Smile, you are beautiful. The more you recognize that, the more it will come out. |

Thanks bergquis, those are inspiring words. I noticed that you are using Tazorac, have you found that this has helped? Do you use the method where you just leave it on for 5 minutes then wash it off? |

Hi Camelia
I am using Tazorac and have been for almost a year now. I apply the cream (ONLY at night) and when I apply it I do feel my face a little more greasy, which is okay because it is at the end of the night and I am just hanging out at the house or going to bed. I wash my face in the morning, so all is well. I do not wash off until the AM shower. I cleanse my face (now currently with Acne Free cleanser). I pat dry my face and then apply a toner. (I know some people say you don't need a toner), but I like the cooling feeling and I like that my pores seem cleaner and tighter. Then I use Benzeclin in the AM. My understanding from my Derm. that the Tazorac helps the skin process shead dead skin cells and the Benzeclin is to help kill bacteria. These two items were a godsend to me. It helped me get back my life (most of the time) |

For oily concerns...i just got the la mer oil absorbing lotion and absolutely love it!! It is so light and once on it makes my face soooo smooth and not shiny....it's not even matte looking but just normal and you only need a little...the only downside to this lotion is that it doesn't have spf in it...but other than that..highly recommend it!!! |

Camelia, I also use tazorac and am REALLY happy with it. I wish I had discovered it sooner. It is the only thing that has truly helped long term. My skin still has its issues but using taz has made it all so much better. I also use Duac - I used to use it all over my face, but once it was under control, I found it too drying for all over and now spot treat with it and it works like a charm. The tazorac I use is the cream o.1% - it's the stronger one and for me worked better than the 0.05%. |

MD cleanser for very oily skin, Retinova every third night (does very little for the blackheads on my nose) Skinceuticals Intense Line Defence on other nights, Philosophy vitamin C powder A.M(sorry, I can't remember what it's called at the moment)Dermalogica Micofoliant too. None of it really controls the oil and the sunscreen just seems to make my face so oily. I can't go without it because I have some pigmentation around my nose and chin. I have tried using Dr Haushka rose powder during the day but I fine it a bit coarse and although it absorbs oil it doesn't entirely stop the reflectiveness caused by the sunscreen. |

Last year I had very oily skin, and constantly had to blot the excess oil off, and always had to reapply my make-up at noon. And of course had to deal with breakouts. But ever since joining this forum, I have started using new products and now I do not have oily skin at all. I don't even get a sheen by the end of the day, and right now my skin is clear. One of the first changes I made was to use Dr Renaud Sebopure cleansing milk and Dr Renaud Intervention Fluid Base moisturizer and this is when I noticed the huge change in my skin. I have recently started using Dr Hauschka cleansing cream, clay mask and rhythmic night conditioner, and am loving them so much that I plan on slowly switching to the Dr H line totally, but I am not giving up the Dr R moisturizer. I believe that is what is keeping my oil under control. |

I used to be an oil slick until I found Decleor. I started using the Ylang Ylang oil in the AM, and the Essential balm and Ylang Ylang balm in the evenings (I alternate) back in July and now instead of oily, I'm more combination.
Granted I have my oily days, especially when it's 110 degree outside, but overall I'm MUCH better shine-wise.
It takes awhile, it won't happen overnight, but I'm so glad I found it. I really believe it's all about finding your balance, instead of trying to mop up the oil and drying it out, which can over-strip. |

I have a difficult time understanding how oil can help prevent oil on my face but I have read so many good things about it I'm willing to give it a try! Decleor is the best then? |

I used Clarin's Lotus Oil which is also good at regulating oil. I have combination skin. You can read reviews on Decleor and Clarins oils on makeupalley website before you decide. |

I used a 50% glycolic mask sample from Natura Bisse and it did nothing at all! |

I am sorry to hear your feeling.
My experience is that Obagi works very good for me. My friends and even my family members admire my improvement.
But there is no one brand suits everyone. You have to trial an error.
Hope you will find the best one for you very soon! |
