I am also curious to see what others have experienced w/the photofacial or IPL. My hyperpigmentation has gotten so bad, I don't know what else to do. Nothing seems to help it. Has anyone had either of the procedures? What was the cost? Were you happy w/the final outcome? |

A friend of mine just got it on her face and chest for sun/age spots. She had fantastic results! |

Did she have to do a series, or have just one session? Do you know what the cost was associated w/it? Any pain? |

One session. I think it was about $600. She said it was uncomfortable, not horrible. She had quite a lot of spots. |

I just went for a consultation and the cost was $495 for one treatment. I'm excited, I made an appointment for the end of June. I only paid for one so far, I want to see how the results are after one. I'm hoping to just have 2-3 treatments. Yogi- how many treatments did your friend have? |

She just had one on her face and chest. I'm not sure if she's going to get more. |

Just had my 2nd IPL last week. The results are amazing, even after first treatment I noticed a considerable difference. I had tons of freckles and sunspots. Highly recommend it! |

For a couple of hours after my skin was REALLY red, but calmed down very quickly after that (I have super sensitive skin though, most people defintely do not go as red as I did). If you have a lot of brown (like I had!) the brown areas darken and look quite dirty. The darkened areas gradually flake off, over a period of 5 - 10 days. The first time definitely took 10 days, the second time it took about 5. You need make up with really good coverage to cover it up. I definitely had no bruising or swelling but my skin felt a bit sensitive in some areas. |

Re; IPL, I think it has extreme reviews around. Some of my friends are huge fan of IPL. They have series of sessions, their routine seems one per every three months. They are, in common, have freckles, relatively dry skin type. After one session, I can see the complexion is much better (lighter and clearer), it appears that glow lasts about a month for most of them.
My sister has very sensitive skin type, oily t-zone. She also had 5-6 session since last November. It didn't work out. Nothing happened. No improvement around pigmentation, wrincles, big pores around nose and dark circled areas around eyes.
As for me, I have very very sensitive chin area and my facial skin usually doesn't heal fast after any treatments. I am afraid to do IPL for now. There are a lot of alternatives, like Faxel, Pixel(sp?), laser toning, Polaris (sp?) and etc.. I am considering every options but need to take a look them seriously before I decide. |

I'm Asian and was told that I might not have a good result because I have a lot of pigments. And sure enough, I had no results after 2 treatments. None of the sunspots even faded. I saw no change whatsoever. This was included as part of the Thermage package deal along with microdermabrasion. All in all, the whole thing was nothing more than a waste of both money and time for me, plus it was a painful experience as well. |

IPL did not work for my mum either. After 2-3 treatments, she actually ended up with more spots! She is doing the blue peel and is having better results. The problem for her is that she doesn't wear her sunscreen - when she thinks its cloudy etc! |

I'm a huge fan of the IPL photofacial...it has worked wonders for me in terms of repairing scarring, treating broken capillaries around the nose area, etc. My results were definitely noticeable after the first session. There is minor swelling that makes your face look VERY slightly puffy for a day or two but then goes away. I got 1-2 photofacials a month for a couple months and now do maintenance with my Baby Quasar. |
