| I am 46, have generally dry skin with a few fine lines around my eyes. But I get somewhat shiny mid-day. What's the best loose powder, in your opinion? |

Hi!
I really like BE Mineral Veil - takes off the shine but is sheer and leaves you looking natural - it doesn't seem to clog or cake and doesn't leave you looking dry or chalky either. I've used it around the eyes and it doesn't make you look crepey or emphasise lines.  One of the few loose powders you can apply layer over layer and it doesn't get that flat 'made-up'look. |

| Jane Iredale is great too! I haven't tried the BE, but the JI is supposedly less shiney. You apply it in thin layers, one over the other until your desired effect. If it gets a bit thick just spray on a spritz like their D20 and it's set! |

 Hi Stevie, I haven't tried Jane Iredale yet but the Bare Escentuals is nice to use, and on a less is more basis, you dont look over made up either. One pot must last forever. |

So odd that you should post this question tonight. Just got through doing an internet search to see if I could find a powder I love. I wear a very sheer liquid foundation when I wear one. I have tried Jane Iredale Products and BE. They just are not for me. I like a more dewy look. I have this face power that I found in my draw a while back. It is called Velvet Touch Face Power by LaFemme. Come to find out it is very inexpensive. Well, it is so awesome. It goes on like velvet and is very finely milled. You would never know that I have powder on when I wear it. The soft look lasts all day and my skin feels like silk. I love this loose powder. I have tried BE Mineral Veil and the only way I can say it is that it is too dulling for me. My friend, who is a facialist, gave me the Velvet Touch powder. It is packaged in .75 oz. so it will last me forever as I only need a very small amount.
The next loose power I want to try is Chanel. My friend wears it and it is lovely but very expensive. |

That's a no-brainer for me: Laura Mercier loose face powder and Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, hands down!

Cle De Peau is probably my favorite for loose powder. The translucent powder looks a bit pink in the jar but it is not when you put it on. It is super lightweight and smooth.
My second favorite is probably Laura Mercier. Her powder is light and lovely also.
The Cle de Peau is very expensive, but it will take me literally years to use up a jar. I originally tried it because of the rave reviews at makeup alley, and now I love it too. |

| Agree! Cle de Peau is the best powder I have tried. It's very very fine and doesn't leave you with cakey look. Very natural. |

| Even though I’m a recent convert from Bare Escentuals mineral foundation to Jane Iredale’s pressed powder mineral foundation, I still prefer BE’s Mineral Veil to set everything. It is the one powder that I’ve ever used that truly is “translucent.” |

Thanks very much for your suggestions everybody! I'll have to try some of these out. Finding the right powder (& foundation) has always been tricky for me.

I have trouble finding Cle de Peau online even to just read about the products. I don't know why it is so difficult. I know that Nieman Marcus carries the brand and Saks Fifth Avenue carries and ships it out of their New York City store only. I don't have any Nieman Marcus info, but I do on Saks. Their kind customer service dept sent me these numbers etc months ago. Hopefully they will be helpful.

Thanks for the numbers. You are all so helpful! I remember having a hard time in the past finding out about Cle de Peau (I was looking for concealer). I couldn't find a single place that carried their makeup, and nothing on-line.

Maybe u can try
T. LeClerc loose powder.
I really like it. I've used Bobbi Brown and Shu Uemura, and T. Leclerc is the best. |

I am a recent Jane Iredale fan. I start dry in the morning and get a bit oily as the day goes on. I think the powder goes on easily and evenly. It seems to look better as the day goes on!

| The Mineral Veil from Bare Escentuals is extremely drying, so you shouldn't use it on dry skin...My personal favourite is the loose powder from Versace, if you can find it. The finish is not as dry as with other powders, and the colour selection is good. The box is ugly, though, I prefer more minimalist boxes like MAC and Chanel. |

Actually I like TLeclerc pressed powder in Banane - it evens out skin tone looks completely natural and doens't cake - keep meaning to try the loose version!! |

| My favorite is SunSilk finishing veil from www.suncatnaturalmineralmakeup.com. It has silk powder in it which is moisture adjusting and the texture is really fluffy and soft. For t-zones I use the SunSet finishing veil. |
