Okay,so my cheeks have been red as long as I can remember. In all honesty, I am not really as insecure as some people seem to be (I suppose im just used to it?) so I don't feel like going out of my way to see a derm or get a scrip. If there is some kind of cream I could pick up for under a hundred bucks (or alot cheaper if I have to keep using it) I might be down. Instead of describing it, here is a few pics.
regular day, normal temperatures:

second pic shows it best. The other thing is that if I drink, my cheeks get REALLY red. See these pictures. (note... large amounts of alcohol consumed.)

i've been thinking of trying "yonka phyto 54". It advertises "helps to tone down visible redness and promote skin color uniformity, imparts freshness to warm and/or flushed complexions and maintains an even tone."
I dont think I have rosacea. I have little to no acne for someone my age, usually 2-3 pimples atm most. my skin feels the same, although my complexion is uneven. I am also a very fair skinned person.
any recomendations?

Hi Therrol,
I experience a little facial redness too at times. Several years ago I switched to Decleor products, the Harmonie Gentle Soothing Cream and also the Rose D'Orient Oil (and balms.) Although the results weren't instantaeous or overwhelming, I did begin to notice an evening to my skin tone and less redness. It might not be the holy grail for you but it did help me. As I am actively focussing more on preventing the signs of aging now that I am a bit older, I don't use the Decleor products exclusively but I do return to them when I feel that my redness is coming back. I agree that drinking and also certain foods can trigger the redness. I'll be curious to see what other people recommend as well. |

Therrol may I ask how old you are?
I started to get more redness in my cheeks when I entered peri-menopause. It seems to come and go and sometimes is worse than other times.
My neck area gets very flushed at certain times yet I don't feel warm or have sweats when I get the redness.
Oh the joys of getting older! |

I know La Rche Posay does an anti redness every day moisturiser with some spf. Could be a good thing to swap your normal moisturiser for that one, I think their stuff is pretty reasonably priced. |

I also have great results with the Decleor Harmonie and the rose d'orient. The LaRoche Posey irritated my skin and made it burn for some reason, although it was a sample and I only tried it for a few days. Ipl's work great too, if it really bothers you. |

I just looked at the decleor harmonie line here at EDS, and they have an ULTRA soothing cream, too, and a soothing mask.
Decleor products are lovely, I think. |

Therrol, I really cant say if it's relevant to your redness or not, but if you google "AYURVEDA"you can find out about the indian system of treatment which defines people to various types... they suggest that sometimes redness is to do with internal heat building up and suggest cooling treatments and foods, and what foods to avoid. The 'hot' type ('dosha') in this system is called 'pitta'. So look for pitta balancing treatments, if you're interested.
Nice things like yoghurt and cucumber, and sandalwood powder face masks with aloe gel, and taking aloe vera internally.
Just a thought. |

The redness looks like rosacea to me. There are many stages of rosacea. There doesn't have to be pimples or anything. Do u feel a burning hot sensation to your face? Is your face always this red? I think it's better to go see a doctor instead of using products randomly cuz I don't think it really helps. It's just my opinion cuz I experienced similar things like that b4. It's more like internal than external. |

Well therrol, there is no cream that will totally eradicate your redness. Only thing you can do is use a yellow based foundation. Actually tinted moisturizer is all you need but more on the yellow side. I'm not talking bright sunshine yellow here but NO peach or pink in your shade. |

Hi all,
I used to have really oily/combi skin ( with large pores on cheeks) in a tropical climate location but now that i am in the UK, the opposite happens. Due to the dry (less humid) weather, I now have really tight cheeks (that gets quite painful), but with scars/blemishes/congested skin.
Please help/recommend what product/treatment is useful.
Thanks heaps. |
