I couldn't think of a better title
Anyway, I have been doing yoga for about a year now and I'm really pleased with the physical results. I have up-ed my endurance and added to a few muscles that seriously weakened over my lazy teen years stage (I was really active as a child) and all in all, I think I am getting stronger and progressing in the length of time and intensity that I can do my asanas.
It seems a lot of my muscles from the waist down, front of thighs and calves are being worked the most (along with strengthening my back and my arms) but I'm concerned about the muscles in back of my thighs. Could any yoginis let me in on some stances that make me sweat back there? Or does anyone have any specific routines they could post? It's specifically that area that I want to tone up and start strengthening, but I have no idea how to do it!
Thanks in advance. |

Some poses that work the backs of my thighs are:
bridge pose (Setu Bandhasana)
chair pose (Utkatasana)
warrior 1 pose (Virbhadrasana 1)
warrior 2 Pose (Virbhadrasana 2)
I usually practice the warrior poses as part of a series of vinyasas. |

I do warrior pose 1 and 2 as well I could never get tired of them...I'll add the other two, and try and deepen my stances for Warrior next time! |

Helen, that's what Freva was asking. Do you yoga?
I don't yoga, but what I do for the back of the leg is to stand holding on to the back of a chair, and kick my leg back. I wear an ankle weight, too. It seems to help to mold that muscle. |

I think if you try to take stairs more often, it will help as well |
