Hi All
I ned some suggestions for saome new hair care products. I'm looking for a shampoo, conditioner, stlying cream and possibly an intensive conditioner. My hair is very thick, naturally curly and coloured and therefore can be very dry. I've previously used the Bumble and Bumble curl styling cream which I love, but would like a cheaper alternative. I also tried the B&B curly hair shampoo and conditioner and WAS NOT impressed (£15 each!). Not too keen on Frizz Ease products, but generally open to suggestions! Thank you! |

Rachael I use Kerastase but it is also expensive.
There is also a line called Deva hair products that are suppose to be very good for hard to manage hair! |

| Joico do a line of products that are great for adding condition to dry, thick hair. My hair is really thick and curly too but I really like Aveda Be Curly leave in hair creme just for helping to tame the frizz a bit! Not the cheapest products around but ones that i've found helped a bit. |

My best success so far (I have curly, frizzy, dry and damaged hair - but it's fairly fine and flyaway too) has been with the following:-
Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo
Redken All Soft Conditioner
Redken Heavy Cream as a weekly treatment
Pavé Shine Serum
followed by Bumble & Bumble Curl Crème
Then I twist my hair into 6 dread-style braids, giving them a blast with my infra-red hairdryer, then leaving them to dry naturally. Finally, I lightly run my fingers through my hair to separate the braids into lovely long waves and ringlets. It really cuts down on frizz and makes it look shiny and in much better condition. |

Majorb - I'm doing a similar "curly girl" routine where I let my hair air dry. The problem is I go around looking like a wet dog for half the day  I'm a SAHM but it's still embarassing (I can't imagine how women do it if they have to be at a job  ) Any tips? TIA  |

Majorb,
I've never really paid attention to aveda products but have been looking on hqhair and quite fancy trying the sap moss shampoo and conditioner and be curly. Can I just check that the be curly is a leave in curl styling product? I also do the twisty thing! I wash and condition my hair, comb it, run serum through then mess it up a bit and curl small sections (just with fingers) before drying with a dryer and diffuser for a couple of minutes. I then leave it to dry naturally as long as possible and finish off for a couple of minutes again with the diffuser. I guess us curly girls find our own way to deal with our hair! |

| Rachael, have you checked the hair care board at makeupalley? There are usually lots of posts from people with hair types similar to yours. If you haven't already checked, you might get some good suggestions there, too. |

LOL! No, I have EXACTLY the same problem! Man, I must look like a half-hearted Rastafarian or something! 
At least I can go for the following 2 days with my hair looking great, as it only needs washing every third day. (Yikes! That makes me sound like a slattern - but my hair does feel clean and look good during that time.) |

I've never used the Be Curly, I'm afraid. Just the B&B Curl Crème and Pavé's Serum - they're both leave-ins. I also don't mess up my hair - just twist it very carefully, making sure not to handle it too much because that increases the dreaded frizz factor.
What a palaver we have to go through, eh! |

Rachael the Aveda Be Curly is a leave in conditioner. Well that's how I use it anyway. I've tried so many products and it gets so expensive. My hair is so thick, it's unmanageable, and I get through the products so quickly that nothing really ends up being that cost effective.
I ended up having my hair permanantly straightened twice a year. It doesn't leave my hair dead straight. I don't think I suit straight hair anyway, but it's so much easier for me to deal with afterwards. |

I first used the Be Curly range a couple months ago. I bought it from the Aveda store in Soho, I got the shampoo, conditioner and Be Curly which was packed together with the Curl Control and Volume Tonic as a special promotion.
The shampoo and conditioner don't do much in the way of accentuating curls but it definitely leaves my hair a lot less dryer than other shampoos. So, in that regard, I'm quite happy. After washing I'm left with hair that's a lot less fluffier than it would normally be.
The Be Curly is good for curls but it can leave my hair slightly crunchy. I think it also makes flakes the next day.
But I will always use my hair oil, that's my number one product for my hair. A couple of drops rubbed between my palms and then run through my hair does wonders! |

| Majorb, what kind of hair dryer do you use-infra-red? My hair is wavy but not ringlet curl on it's own, but gets very frizzy unless I air dry it or use the diffuser. I also like Pave's leavin serum, I'm afraid I jump around on the shampoo and conditioner. Has anyone found adding SKB and or oat beta glucans to cause any worse dryness or frizz with curly or wavy hair. Thanks. |

It's by Babyliss and you can buy it in the US too. (I know this because I actually bought another one that I can use whenever I go to Canada or the US on me hols! I really couldn't live without it now!)
I find it's best to use it not too often, and to not dry the hair completely. It definitely speeds up all those usual hours it takes to air dry, though, and helps to tighten/increase the staying power of curls and ringlets. |

Rachel, I have curly ringlet hair and found SuddzFX to be the absolute BEST product I have ever found. My hair is soft, manageble, and curls are well-defined. I like the fact that they don't use any sulfates in their line and when you buy salon sizes, it's really not that expensive. I little goes a long way.
I rotate SuddzFX with KMS curly hair formulas. Tried Kerastase, but too expensive and too many ingredients I don't like.
When I get out of the shower, I massage in 7 pumps of Silkia camellia oil, followed by a quarter size amount of jojoba oil. Then I massage about 5 pumps of Goldwell's Hair silk, comb it all through. This is the LAST TIME a comb is allowed to touch my hair!
I wind up a turban around my hair and let it remain while I dress and apply makeup.
Finally, I use a finishing product from SuddzFX, leave in conditioner from Aquage, scrunch my hair and let it air dry. I know, it sounds like I'm putting on an awful lot and I am, but my hair just absorbs all of this like a thirsty sponge and winds up soft, non-frizzy, shiny and lots of spiral curls! |
