Like lots of people I'm trying to find my HG MMU. So far I've tried EM, Alima and lumierre. I thought I'd found my HG with Lumierre but now realise its too matt for me. At the moment I'm mixing Lumierre with Alima. I was about to order some more Alima as that has mica in and seems to be slightly more glowy than the lumierre, but I thought I'd ask on here first (I already have a box of discarded MMU and don't reallly want to add to it!). glow/shine wise I actually like Everyday Minerals the best, but their colour selection is very limited. I'm dark in colouring, j-loesque i'd say. I'd probably like to try and stay away from bismuth as a lot of people seem to react to it, and I'm very sensitive.
Any help appreciated,
Cheers

Hi Preenie,
Have you tried Laura Mercier's MMU? Though the color range is limited, a lot of people have been succesful with it. For extra glow, you can add the Secret Brightening Powder.
UGlogirl also has a better glowy selection.
Good luck |

Hi Preenie! I've finally found my HG MMU and it's Suncat Natural Mineral Makeup. Her original foundation formula gives a radiant glowy finish that you don't even need a glowy finishing powder. I got both the original and semi-matte formula. Semi-matte does give a glowy finish too but just not as much as the original. Her mineral foundation is so fluffy, soft and silky, blends in like a dream and melts in your skin that you don't even need to spritz or anything! If you're not sure what color you are, you can mail her a sample of your mineral foundation, then she can help you choose out a color!
Here's the website:

If the Lumiere is a good colour match but too matte (or flat) maybe try a finishing powder with glow. I think it would be easier to find a finishing powder than another colour match.
Lumiere has some nice finishing powders that are glowy.
I actually like matte MMU as I have enough glow all on my own! |

Have you tried Alima's Illuminating Shimmer Powder. I've been using Cafe and it just makes me glow when I do not want to be too matte |

Ditto! I love the LM MMU. It has a very nice glow just on it's own ... not too shiny, but a nice healthy glow. I haven't tried the Brightening Powder because I'm happy with the finish as is. The MMU is awesome! Although, it does have Bismuth in it, but you could always ask for a sample to see how you react to it. ![Sad](images/smiles/sad.gif) |

Sadly I don't have a glow of my own!
I was thinking of the finishing powder actually, but have never used them before so was dubious, maybe i should just try that first. I was worried because the colours of the finishing powders all look quite pale.
Thanks all, I'm going to check out the websites you supplied.

preenie, check out UGlogirl finishing powders - Melissa has several ones: translucent, pale pink, pale yellow and pale violet. I know these sound like absolutely crazy colors but they actually work beautifully. My fav is the pale violet - it brightens up my complexion, which can be yellowy and sallow at times (NC42-45). Translucent is actually white on me. Pink and yellow work well too. The Alima powders are actually too glowy for me. I have tried cafe for example and felt it was too much for me but it might work for you as it does for divalovesmusic. |

alima gives me just enough glow by itself on my slightly oily skin. i also sometimes apply the shimmer powder in certain areas. have you tried the finishing powder? it gives a "soft-focus" finish, which i guess can be translated into "glowy". or mixed it with the shimmer powder to tone it down slightly? |

hiya,
I looked on suncat but I don't think the colours were right for me.
Does anyone have the link for Uglowgirl, I cant seem to find it. Thanks.
Agent-OOcat, how do you pick a finishing powder. On Alima there seem to be quite a few, I was going to go for a translucent yellow, or something like that, because I'm quite yellow/golden/beige toned. Do you just get the nearest match to your skin tone? But then I'm sure your not purple .I know I need to try a few, but its getting quite ridiculous the amount I've bought and not used already- I'm not very good at buying samples, as I'm in England and I cant be bothered to wait upto two weeks for a sample that'll last a few days! So I try and get at least one that (fingers crossed) will be a match, and sample some of the others.
Thanks for your help

Are you looking for a finishing veil? SunCat has a glowy one and it's called SunRadiance. It's for everyone since it comes on transparent. I also have both Satin Glow and Flash Glow finishing veils from MAD Minerals and both are good.

preenie, I think it's uglogirl.com After sampling four I decided this was the best for me. Hope you like it as well. I have dry skin and the others were too powdery-looking for me. Uglogirl seemed to have a little more dewiness to it. I don't use a finishing powder, only spray with Evian water. Good luck! |

preenie,

Are you yellow/golden beige on the fair side? If so most people do ok with translucent. I'm not an expert with chossing a finishing powder but you don't want something too pigmented or it'll counteract your foundation.
I am darkish and the translucent looks white on me. But the yellow and purple work well. Pink is perhaps too pink if I also use a blush. The idea behind the purple/pink/yellow finishers from Uglogirl is that if your foundation is predominantly yellow (like a MAC NC), then you'd want to add pink or purple but if your foundation is more on the pink (like MAC NW), then add yellow.
On Alima, Caffe or D'oro might be a nice one for you. be warned that they are quite glowy though!
I'd also seriously continue recommending LM Secret Brightening Powder mixed with your Lumiere.
I have a bunch of these samples that I don't use- I'd be happy to send you a few if you'd like. (I haven't spat in them or anything, I promise
), I'm a trained scientist and always decant!!!! So, PM if you're interested.
Hope you find the glow... |
