Random question, but can anyone help? I am getting married in July and my future mother in law needs 3-4 songs from us ASAP to use in the slide show she is showing of us at the rehearsal dinner. We have a couple, but we are stuck on which song to play first when they are showing pics of me and him growing up (alternating a pic of me, pic of him ,etc.)
People have suggested "In My Life" by the Beatles but I feel its so "expected" and over-done. We are indie/alternative music fans but will consider any ideas at this point--as long as it kinda has to do with growing up, being a kid, etc.
Thanks! |

What are the songs that you have chosen, or are considering? What are some of the bands you like? (It's hard to make suggestions without knowing your taste!) |

1 ?
2) 1234 by Feist
3)Such Great Heights by the Postal Service
4)Flowers in the Window by Travis
So the one I still need is the one where they are showing our kid pics.
Bands we like: U2, Travis, Bloc Party, Led Zeppelin, Broken Social Scene, The Arcade Fire, Coldplay....
It doesn't matter what kind of music as long as it has at least a little to do with being a kid, growing up, etc. It can be slow, fast, soft, rocking, whatever. Thanks! |

None of these are specificly about kids, most these are just others artists you might like.
Rob Dickinson - My Name Is Love (song)
It's gorgeous
Other artists:
Imogen Heap
The Shins - Wincing The Night Away
Mika - Love Today
Nick Drake
Kurt Elling (jazz)
That all I can think of off the top of my head. If anything comes to mind, I'll let you know. |

How about Jack Johnson? His music is so soothing, upbeat and quite accessible (since this will be viewed by all the guests)! His song, "Better Together" could be a good bet. |

That is such a great thing that your mother-in-law is doing. For my sisters wedding I did a 15 min picture show using a computer program, where I had pictures of her growing up, then picture of him growing up. I can't really give you an ideas of songs though, because I used lots of different songs and just took clips from them that related to the pictures (ie pictures of her growing up I used songs with her name in it and Blink 182's "Growing Up", and pics of her with friends I used Center Stage's "Friends Forever" and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls just want to have fun", pics of him and his friends I used Hank Williams Jr's "All my rowdy friends".) For some songs I only used a couple lines. I tried to use a wide varity of music so that everyone watching would enjoy it, but I tried to mainly use music that her and her husband like. Then I did photos of the two of them together to Adam Gregory's "Never be another" and I played the whole thing at the wedding. Then before I gave her a copy, I took photos of the wedding starting with the walk down the isle and ending at the dance, and put all those pictures to Nick Lachey's "This I swear". It turned out really, really nice and I had so many people come say how great it was after I played it, but it was alot of work. I bet I spent about 60 hours on it. |

"Forever Young" by Rod Stewart is very effective. My best friend Gina had this at the beginning of her wedding video when they were showing clips of her and Michael as little kids growning up and it just worked really well.....It's a pretty song.
