hello all

i am very much a lurker on this forum, and know how knowledgeable you all are so am seeking your advice!

to cut a long story short, i am 28 and have MAJOR issues finding the HG of foundations/MMU as the colour of my face and neck differs. my neck is yellow(back of my neck is slightly darker) however my face is very pale neutral, so if i were light foundation it stands out against my neck but if i matched foundation to my neck this would make me long orange!!

so what does any/everybody do?? am i the only one like this? i have tried nearly every makeup range (high street to prescriptives and have recently ordered loads of samples from ALMI to play with)

i also still suffer from spots (on my chin) and have oily skin, so the foundation tends too change as the day goes on..(i'm using decleor skincare for oily skin and happy to stick with this)

can anybody advise??

pp

Have you tried using bronzers? I would try buying a foundation that is closer to the natural color on your face and then using bronzer to warm up your complexion. Or you could try using a self tanner on your face.

Hi PP

I think most people's faces are a different colour to their necks. I think best advice is to use a foundation as close to your facial skintone as possible as snow white suggested.

I think photoshop has cursed us by making us all think that it is 'normal' to be the same colour all over! Smile

Hi purple princess,
Im exactly like you. If i buy a foundation that matches my face, it wouldnt match my neck. So now I wear foundations which match my neck instead of the face.
Do you know why your face is lighter than your neck? For me its using retin a for a few years.

Hi purple princess,

I actually have the opposite problem- my neck is much lighter. I try to match my neck color and tone down the redness in my face.

In your case I would suggest what SnowWhite did- try using a bronzer and a foundation in as close a match to your face as possible. Also, you might try a blush that gives you a rosy, natural glow or a "clear" pink. About 8 years ago I was in your boat with a lighter face (I joked around by saying I had permanent sunblock on my face b/c it never tanned) and I look at picture from that time and I look like a ghost face. I cringe and wish I would have used bronzer.

hi folks

thanks for the replies, i have been trying bronzers but have never found one that i am really happy with and am scared it will make me look orange ..

im not sure why my skin is like this (it has always been that way, and just find it blooming annoying)

if i go darker on my face it will look obvious on my face (if that makes sense??)

i will have to keep searching my a bronzer...

I have had really good results with the bronzer made by Bobbi Brown. It is usually reviewed in a lot of fashion magazines as one of the best too. The key is definitely in how much you apply and where. Apply it to the bridge of your nose, apples of your cheeks, and across your forehead...all places where you get more sun on your face.

I match my face, not my neck. I don't find it so noticeable that the neck doesn't match because it matches the face.

I have the same problem too - my face is paler than my neck.
It might be a good idea to choose a medium foundation (between face and neck color)
