I went for my yearly eye exam today and was anxious to ask my Doc what the implications were of using an eyelash serum that has Glaucoma medicine in it (when you don't have glaucoma.) He said he wouldn't hurt you!!! He said we all have some pressure in the eye so it would just reduce some of that. I told him the serum (in my case, Revitalash) also made my eyes very dry, but he did not feel this was from the Glaucoma medicine ingredient. Personally, I am relieved about hearing this and might use it again. I stopped out of fear and also because of the dry eye (even though the results were great!) |

Someone told me it's probably the sodium chloride(salt) in both JM and RL that's irritating and drying out our eyes. I'm starting to think so too.. |

It is a relief to know that they don't do any damage to your eyes. I recently had my eyes tested and everything was well so i'm not as worried about the JM lash serum I've been using.
My eyes are definitely drier though and my optician did comment on this. |

Sorry about the typo in my initial post. Regarding the lash serums with the Glaucoma medicines in it, the Doc said "IT won't hurt you." One thing he also said is that the Glaucoma medicine "darkens the brown pigment in the eye, mostly effecting people with hazel eyes"...so that could be side effect. He was very curious and interested about the existence of these serums since the FDA may not have approved them "YET" for this use, but he was aware it might be coming down the pike. |

What does that mean then - darken eyes???
I have never used any eyelash serum yet, is it easy to get into eyes? If it works like mascara, then very little chance it would get into the eye to cause any problem then ? |

So I am guessing you would try to apply as close as to the roots of eyelashes, then more chances to get into the eyes... I guess I will hold off on this until it's FDA approved... |

Your eyelids may become darker. Mine turned dark pink making people think that I had some eyeshadow on when I wasn't wearing anything when I was using Revitalash. I think if you like to wear pink eyeshadow already, you could view this as a side benefit. Pink just is not my color as far as eyeshadow goes.
ETA: Oops, I misunderstood the original post about the darkening of the pigmentation. I didn't notice that since my eyes are already dark brown. I doubt RL could have made them any darker. LOL |

Heads up, if you want to help remedy this dry eye phenomenon, try Similasan brand eye drops. They're a homeopathic eyedrop manufacturer, but they can usually be tracked down at nicer drug stores. Most natural tears type formulas actually contain some kinda sketchy ingredients, so I prefer the all-natural way. My eyes dry out very easily and I wear glasses and am constantly at the computer, and I also suffer from allergies. Similasan drops all help a ton. They have many formulas, but to be perfectly honest I don't think there's a huge difference. They also make one-use individual droppers with no preservatives, which are fabulous for travel or purses. |

That is great news-granted I hadn't stopped using my Revitalash- I'm too in love with my lashes; but it had been in the deep recesses of my brain...what if I'm screwing up my eyes.......but they're so pretty!! |

Nice to know we won't do anything terrible in the quest for longer lashes
I wonder what causes the dryness and irritation then in some lash serums?!?!?

I don't think you can get it at the drugstore... You can get it here on EDS or www.lashgro.com. Good luck! I had results but it really irritated my eyes... I think it's possibly could be the sodium chloride(salt) that caused it. |

Thanks for the info. It's really GREAT news!
The main thing is it won't do damage to the eyes. I will start using my JM serum soon and try to apply as little as possible. |

Just wanted to point out one thing, for newbies who might be starting out on JM. This product really doesn't need to get into your eyes- just a very, very thin line at the lash base is all you need. If there is anything running or dripping, you're using too much! Believe me, I had great results with using just enough to go over the lash base. Once I was happy with the length (and worried they were getting too long because people were commenting)I cut back to twice a week. I've discovered this isn't enough. My lashes have lost that "oomph"- better than they were before JM, but not as great as when they were really going. So I'm back to just the tiniest bit every night and they're improving. HTH

Thanks so much for the great info!!!
That is one of the great benefits of this forum...that women out there are not only asking questions, but seeking and obtaining answers.
I was completely unaware of this ingredient in some lash serums (I occasionally use Talika), so it was a real eye-opener.
Good on ya! |

Nette...I just wanted to mention that I was always very careful applying the serum sparingly to the lash line only (especially knowing about the Glaucoma medicine ingredient) but there is no way to prevent small amounts from leaching into the eyes. Also, let me mention, it has now been more than 2 months since I've used my Revitalash and my lashes are still looking great!! |

I am on day 13 of my JM
I think my eyes have adjusted to it because even though my eyes are dryer, eyedrops for dry eyes work fine to relieve this.
I do not see any growth yet. But I guess it is too early LOL
So for those of you that use the new JM, how long did it take to begin working?
