Ok, people, I use and love the LM MMU but feel I need more coverage than I get - even with the wet application method. Should I go for the tinted moisturizer underneath or the Silk Creme? If I do the silk creme, doesn't that negate using MMU in the first place?  |

Hi Agent oo-cat  I don't think it negates the use of the MMU...There have been many times I've used liquid foundation and then thought, "Nah, not good enough" (or whatever) and I've buffed my beloved LM MMU on top and achieved great results! (ie awesome coverage)....If you don't own the tinted Moisturizer or the Silk Creme then get samples and give each one a try....Since you can't get the coverage you want having mastered the MMU wet application method, I think you might get better results with the silk creme......You might even find you only need a light buffing of the MMU on top if you use the silk creme first....It is always such trial and error though, isn't it? (sigh)

| I use a primer then lm tinted moistuizer then I dust on the MMU...love the coverage. I need a bit more coverage too. |

Agent OO-Cat: Well what do you mean by negate the MMU effects? Did you mean the pureness of the ingredients being more healthy for the skin and allowing the skin to breathe? Because if so then it won't make a difference whether you use Silk Creme or the TM underneath because the TM is chalk full of chemical ingredients as well.
I think whether you decide on the TM or the Silk Creme depends on how much more coverage you need. Silk Creme can be buildable to a full coverage foundation while obviously the TM is probably going to be sheer and only add a tint more coverage. Whichever you use will end up giving you more coverage - primer, TM or silk creme just because the MMU will adhere to your skin better than nothing underneath. |

I have been told that silk creme is in fact a full coverage foundation, TM being the lightest and her oil free and moisturising foundations being the medium coverage ones.

Hello back all you lovely LM-users  ,
sormuimui, yeah, I'm worried about losing out on all the good stuff associated with MMU. At least that's how I sold switching to MMU to myself - "it's better for your skin and you can even sleep in it/go to the gym with it whatever.." But maybe occasional coverage like Pudoodles suggests would be fine plus the MMU would be on top...
Okay, me go to LM counter and me ask for samples of 1) primer (is it the one specially for MMU or will the ole primer work or better still the Monistat!), 2) TM and 3) Silk Creme. Me try all this at different times under MMU and report back, not forgetting extra dusting of Secret Brightening powder. I love this stuff!!!
On another rambling note, all my make-up had disappeared yesterday and I had a last minute appointment in the evening. Since I started using LM, I keep the MAC as a back-up in my purse and yesterday was the first time I used it in weeks and I was shocked and appaled that the color I had used for years looked all wrong - too orangy on me. Do I hear Casper's mum purring in the background??!  But seriously, it was like being a teenager and using the wrong colors all over again. So, I think I am seriously falling for LM.... Wait, are they owned by the same evil coprporation as MAC? ...AAArrrggghhh!!!!  |

I like MUFE primer much better than LM's primer (which i have used for years). If you want to stay with the "mineral theme" then Juice Beauty has a TM that is nice...very light and a little drying for me (I know sounds funny) but its mineral so you are still doing great things for your skin.
I must say...I LOVE the silk creme foundation...it is my "I'm going out and want to feel pretty...foundation" but it looks natural enough for everyday too.
You cant go wrong with LM foundations...they are the BEST!! |

What is the MUFE primer? I have MAC prep and prime. I stopped using it as a few people pointed the finger at it for causing breakouts. The silk creme sounds just fabulous though! |

I'm using the LM oil free foundation right now and I truly love it! Use it with the primer and my foundation will last all day, looking so natural & polished! Love it so much that I'm going to buy the silk creme to try, and will probably buy the foundation powder too for touch up & absorbing shine during the day!  Can't wait!! This LM thing is drying out my CC!! |

I am a new convert to LM MMU and I am loving it! I am curious about the secret brightening powder - is this just for the eye area?
I am in love with LM now. I got 2 cake eyeliners, they are so much easier to use than the BB gel eyeliners. I also got Bamboo eyeshadow duo, and it has become my staple. The bare beige lipgloss is also my new staple everyday lip gloss. It's a gorgeous nude, that really looks pretty. |

I think you can use Secret Brightening Powder on other areas as well although I've never tried. I also love their Caviar Eyeliner. It's perfect for my very dark smokey eye look. I like their foundation powder much more than MAC Studio Fix. It's a lot more natural, but it comes in such a tiny size that I go through it in no time. |

Agent OO-Cat: IMHO I don't think you need a primer underneath TM or Silk Creme if your main foundation is the MMU as the TM/Silk Creme would help the MMU adhere to your skin the same way a primer does. Also most primers out there contain silicone or is chalk full of chemicals so if you start using a primer + TM/Silk Creme then basically I doubt you'd get the "benefits" of MMU. I think Silk Creme underneath MMU would be way too much coverage - I use one or the other but never together. When I use Silk Creme a light layer of it stippled on already gives me perfect coverage (and trust me I probably need more than you!) and then I set it with some CdP loose powder or my Guerlain Meteorites and I'm good to go (plus some blush of course!). I'd probably go with the TM if you're looking for slightly more coverage as apart from the extra tint of color, your face being slightly damp/moist from the TM will help the MMU adhere better and it will offer more coverage in that sense as well.
I agree with Olivia that you might give other TMs a try and do not have to stick with LM, but from what I've read it seems LM's TM gives more coverage than comparative brands. You could also try Dr.H's translucent bronze concentrate to get an extra layer of color prior to your MMU and for sure that's good for your skin! You can also mix the translucent bronze concentrate w/your moisturizer to make your own TM or bronzer.
I actually started using LM's oil-free primer today for the first time under my Silk Creme and found that it enhanced my flakies. However it might be due to the fact I was using a sponge instead of my fingers so will give this more of a chance later. So far no breaking out after first use but will have to wait longer to be more conclusive. I don't see a difference between using this and my ol' Yonka Creme 15 (plus Yonka is actually good for my skin) but I'm hypothesizing that the LM does create a barrier from the foundation which my Yonka obviously doesn't do. So it really is indeed doing its job as a primer. Plus the oil-free one doesn't have silicones which is definitely a big-plus. No oil break through during an 8-hr period either so I think this is keeping me slightly more matte than usual which in that time frame I might see a slight bit of oil (nothing major though as I'm not really "oily" anymore).

Oh Lynn please review LM's foundation powder for me - how is the coverage? I was sooo tempted by it (as I have ALWAYS used foundation powders and never creams/liquids) but went and got the MMU instead. But I don't think I need a powder foundation anymore since I'm not as oily as I used to be and silk creme seems to be great - plus I'm liking glow more than matte nowadays (very surprising for me!). I was also worried about the tiny size I heard from other reviews as I go through powder foundations pretty fast. |

I already finished the foundation powder and didn't keep the box, so I have no ingredient list. I recently just bought MAC Studio Fix and I'm missing LM's foundation powder already. I always applied it with BB's kabuki brush as it gave me a sheerer and less cakey coverage. The coverage was much better than that of MAC Studio Fix and it's nowhere near being as cakey or powdery. The color was also a lot more pigmented yet so light on the skin. People were always complimenting me on how nice my "skin" looked and didn't believe I was wearing makeup. It also had great staying power and didn't streak on me after hours of sweating. I never touch up my makeup during the day. With most foundation powders, they look really streaky, but somehow, with LM's foundation powder, even after sweating and makeup melting off my face, what's left of the foundation still managed to meld in together nicely, if that makes sense. However, it did give me some little bumps after a long day out in the hot sun, but absolutely no stinging. BUT, I get little bumps from ALL powders (including MMUs). I even get bumps from being hot and sweaty without having to wear any makeup. Despite the bumps, I really loved it and would definitely repurchase it again in the future. It's possibly the best foundation powder I've ever tried and I've tried Lancome, La Prairie, Dior, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown and Clinique, MAC. I had always used MAC Studio Fix before LM was launched in Thailand and always liked it as it took me less than 2 minutes to apply it all over my face. That's why when I ran out of LM, I went and bought MAC. I totally forgot how cakey MAC looks compared to LM. I'm so surprised it's not as popular as other foundation powders in the market. I would recommend trying it out at the LM counter first as I'd hate to recommend a product to you and it turns out to not agree with your skin. |

Last time I checked (last week), it wasn't available. I don't know if they're gonna stock it though as not many people here know what MMU is at all. |

It's basically a compact foundation (ie pressed powder with foundation). You should try it out. |

I have my doubts it will make it to Hong Kong either any time soon. When I inquired at the LM counter, the salesgirl went so far as to insist that there was no such thing as mineral make up made by LM....

Well after having been told that "there was no such thing as mineral makeup made by LM", I was walking past the very same LM counter today and saw a display that looked like it might be mineral makeup. Sure enough it was. Spoke to a different salesgirl this time and she told me they had had it in stock for 3 months! (despite being told only last week that there was no such thing)
And people wonder why I prefer to shop online  |

I went to investigate other LM options. Sadly there's no shade of silk creme dark enough for me.. but TM in tan seems to work. I have taken samples but am not using them at the moment as I'm breaking out badly The TM is lovely - spreads very lightly but gives decent coverage for a tinted mositurizer. I used to use BB TM and LM appears to be better. The TM under the MMU will probably be a good long-lasting combo even w/o the primer. Thank you all for your recommendations. |

I'm gonna go and have a look again when I have time and see if they actually stock it here. I've tried a sample of Real Sand which sormuimui kindly sent me. Although I liked it for it's texture, the color was a bit too peachy for me. It was still very wearable though. But I don't think it's worth getting into so much hassle of trying to get a hold of it if it's not available in Thailand. |

| EEWWWWW...TM turned orange - like really orange on me!!!! As though I have jaundice or something. I think I saw a mention of one of the TMs looking orangey but I can't find the link. So, the color looks quite innocuous and even a bit pale for me in the sample pot. I put it on and BOOM, I'm Chewy's closest relative minus the fur!!!! WT&??! Thank God it's a sample. I think that was the oil free version and the normal one looks sort of purply...Is it me??! |
