Ugh, I am so undecided about the color of a handbag and yeah, I've been posting on the purse forum.

At least I've finally narrowed my decision to the Miu Miu Coffer Bag.

The colors I'm debating are standard black leather, reddish-brown or a dark plum (almost black).

I'd like something that is versatile for year-round wear. The brown seems like the obvious choice but the dark plum is really intriguing. I have a photo and it looks black but with a slight plum hue.

Seems like this could be an edgey-er option to standard black or brown. And I think it does look a little dressier than brown.

I think the only colors it wouldn't work with are bright oranges and yellows.

So, whaddaya think? Go with basic brown? Or could a black/plum be just as versatile?

Rjez I'm of the opinion that if you find a unique color like the "black plum" that would work w/ 90+% of your wardrobe, go for it Exclamation You can find a basic black or brown bag anytime!

Black/Plum all the way!!! Classic black and brown bags have always been around - you can pick one up anytime...You are "intrigued" by the black/plum....if you don't get it, I bet you'll end up saying..."Geeeez...that black/plum bag would have been nice"....Don't play it safe - get the black/plum one ("edgy" is good Wink )

What colour are most your shoes/belts? I usually choose a handbag that is most versatile with the colour of clothing I have. But if I'm going for a non-black/brown, I like to match my handbag colour to something else I'm wearing.

I agree, you should match your handbag colour to something that you are wearing (shoes, belt, etc.)

The black plum sounds gorgeous, and I think you can co-ordinate without being too matchy-matchy. As long as what you're wearing doesn't actually clash.

No need for another black or brown bag. Black plum sounds really good Smile. I would say if it works for 70% of your wardrobe, it's well worth it.

BTW, I like that bag too Very Happy

I would definitley go for the plum colour. I agree that your clothes, bag, shoes etc don't need to match exactly, they just shouldn't clash! By the way, you are seriously making me want a new bag Embarassed

If you want to use it all year around I would go with the brown, it goes with summer and winter outfits. The plum would be harder to match up with your clothes.

I'm speaking from experience, I bought a gorgeous pinky/burgundy Mulberry bag last year, loved the colour but I have probably used it once or twice because it doesn't go with anything. Just my opinion.

You guys had me almost picking up the black plum but in the end I picked up Noce which is a Cognac color.

We ended up going to Saks (see my other thread on Saks in SF). They didn't have black/plum but I tried the black. It was really nice but it's also a very large bag ... the dark color overwhelms my frame (I'm 5').

I think the black plum would totally work in a smaller version, just not the every day that I wanted.

Thanks everyone ... I'll post pictures this week!
