This might be two different things here. One is to keep the extraction areas from getting bacteria in them and to take down inflammation and redness and other would be to even out color while blemishes have flattened but still red.
Sorry if there is a thread (s) on this. Then please lead me to them.
Thanks. |

For pimples that I couldn't keep my hands off, I find that a glob of polysporin helps with healing the broken skin.
As for evening out the colour of blemishes, if only i knew! A temporary fix for newly reddened spots is Visine. Just use a q-tip and dab it on the red spot and it helps reduce the colour. It doesn't work for older spots too well though. |

Is this the same as Neosporin? |

Mommydearest--- you might try Escents acne treatment. ( http://www.escentsaromatherapy.com/ ) It has tea tree oil to kill the bacteria, and lavender to nix the redness. I find that it helps a lot! |

I second this - it's great for after extractions to kill bacteria and it does soothe inflammation but doens't get rid of all the redness. But for your second concern - I find Phytomer's Accept Neutralizing Cream is quite good at neutralizing redness. Valmont Dermatosic works for both of your concerns - kills bacteria and soothes redness but it's also extremely expensive. |

Has anyone found something good for red acne scars a few months old? I've been using CP serum but it's still there. |

EpidermX II has made the biggest difference in the red acne marks on my face. I saw a significant difference in a month (with twice a day usage). |

I second the EpidermX II, but I would also recommend using its sister lotion Chrysalyx along with it. I used the two together to get rid of a whole face full of red marks from break outs! My skin is pretty clear right now, however, I recently picked at a clogged pore on my chin and it turned into a really nasty scab. After the scab fell off it left a really large, bright red spot, but thanks to EpidermxII once a day and Chrysalyx twice a day, the mark has almost totally faded and it's just been a little more than a week. |

Thanks for the suggestion. Here is another problem. I am taking a vacation to Greece later this month. I know from experience that these marks turn brown with the sun and I end up with a really blotchy mess. Also wearing sunscreen all day usually causes blemishes on my chin. I can't win. Is there anything besides wearing hat and sunscreen I can do while I am there? Do you think something like the Escents under sunscreen would help keep bacteria down to prevent the breakouts? I am worried it would be too drying. Do you guys like the Escents now more than the Yonka gel?
Thanks. |

mommydearest: Escents is not drying at all however if you get breakouts from using sunscreen perhaps you should try another sunscreen or perhaps your cleanser isn't getting all of it off. No acne gel can prevent acne if something else you're using causes clogged pores.
I'm not sure which Yonka "gel" you're talking about but if it's Juvenil I must say that Juvenil made me break out continuously - at first I thought it was purging but it didn't help my acne at all and I kept "purging" until I used up the whole bottle.
Apart from acne gels I actually quite like using Yonka 15 as a primer (or moisturizer depending on your skintype) underneath a whole day of makeup as I find that helps keep my skin clearer. |

Hi - I have a store of sunscreens in my house. I just think that in the hot months ANYTHING on my face that is a layer will break me out right now. This has not always been the case but now it is. Hormones are changing. I am actually looking into different ways to pre-cleanse. I have a list of things to try.
It was a different Yonka gel. Can't remember the name. Do you use anything else from that Escents line? It is not one of the lines you hear a lot about on here but it does look good. |

Tea tree oil is great. I usually use a few drops with my facial moisturizer when I have redness from a breakout. I also apply a drop right on the blemish with a q-tip for a higher concentration to help kill the bacteria. The epidermx II helps with the scarring. |

I have Plantation Tea Tree but have not found it helps. Are there better ones out there? I used Epidermx long ago and felt is aggravated blemishes and was not strong enough for older ice pick acne scars and decided I needed to do TCA peels. I can't do them when I am breaking out though and I only have these problems in the summer. Rest of year my skin has no blemishes. Don't think it was the Epidermix II though. Is that different?
Oh the Yonka one was the Emulsion Pure. Is the Escents similar? |

I got my Tea tree from the body shop. I think you can also go to the Health food store and get one that has Vit. E in it too so it doesn't dry out the skin too much. I can't remember the brand but the company makes lots of creams and stuff with Vitamin E (including a tea tree oil). I found that worked well to kill off bacteria and prevent pimples from forming.
I haven't tried the older version of Epidermx but the EpxII seems to work well for me. However, the Epx II requires time to show results for deeper scars. I think during the summer the layers of sunscreen can cause breakouts, if not removed properly... at least that is what I find happening on my skin. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Yonka EP is a completely different product and cannot be classified as an acne "gel". It's a white liquid that is used to compressed local spots after extractions to immediately soothe redness and inflammation. The Escents is an acne gel that helps heal existing acne, I just find that it works great after extractions as well but I use it for larger areas like when I'm extracting clogged pores.
I bought Escent's bruise and wound gel but I prefer Carekate's Skin Salve much more. I have not tried their other products but I'm a faithful user of their acne gel and haven't found anything better that it. I wrote a review on it before, I'm sure you'll find it if you do a search on Escents.
I think if its' just heat and sweat perhaps it's best to not layer much on your skin at all. Or you can consider products that seem to form a barrier on your skin - such as Best Bath Store Acne Gel, it's too drying for my skin at the moment but if you're going somewhere humid and if those products with barriers work for you then perhaps you could give it a try. When I say products with barriers I mean stuff like SK Bio and stuff like that. They seem to work great for lots of people but my skin just don't seem to like those ingredients or the "barrier". |

I don't think that barrier thing works for me either. I was using SKB and actually think it was breaking me out. I know it is supposed to not do that. I don't even wear moisturizer in the summer. The SS is more than enough.
I love CC's Skin Salve btw. I only have a sample but I have used it on cooking burns a number of times and it is amazing.
Too bad - I can find Yonka here in NYC but need to oder the Escents. I want it now and I think it has to come from Canada doesn't it!
Thanks. |

Yeah it does, I think Escents originated from BC actually. Anyways, I find that Escents work best at night, while you sleep. I find it doesn't do that much in the daytime for what you're looking for. However I find after using Escents in the PM, by morning whatever bumps caused by my makeup/pollution the day before would be gone or significantly reduced. I find doing clay masks every night (if your skin can handle it) also works quite well. |

Oh me too, love the clay masks. I am actually getting a sample set of tons of different kinds so I can experiment. I was thinking of a cleanser with some clay in it for the summer to. That plus antibacterial things should hep. I just started using Blue Copper. Wonder what the order should be. I assume the Escents should be on bare skin.
I have been trying to reach the people at Best Bath but they don't return calls. I can't get my order to go through on line. I read all those reviews and although some people moved on to other things I wanted to at least get some samples. Maybe they are not doing that anymore? |

It doesn't matter when you use the Escents it works equally well when I put it right after cleansing/toning or when I use it after my moisturizers as the last step. But generally I think it should be used after serums and before moisturizers.
I'm currently using Osea's Mudd Cleanser and I quite like it but can no longer use it everday. My fav clay mask of all time is Earth to Body's Clay Neem Treatment recommended by Yen. I've gone through about 3 jars of them and on my 4th. It's powder that you mix so you can add in things depending on how your skin feels at the time. I also really like Burt's Bees Pore-Refining Mask - also a powder. BB's has some grains in it so when I rinse I scrub my face as well for extra exfoliation. Both are pretty inexpensive as well. |

Good thing for this forum. I was just about to order some samples from them too! If they aren't doing it anymore they should at least take the site down. Maybe they are on holidays? ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/rolleyes.gif) |
