So I've been waiting forever for this brush so I emailed and asked when they'd be getting them. I had previously emailed the end of may, and they had some a 'few weeks'
We are expecting a shipment of the Foundation Brushes in about three or four weeks. This shipment is nearly half spoken for by people on a waiting list. If you want to be on the waiting list, just let me know. We will send an email when it arrives, and hold one for you for a day or two. After that, it will probably be six to eight weeks before we receive our next shipment, as those will be our new brush collection. We have some new brushes coming out, and although the #25 will be functionally the same, it will have a different look (handle, ferrule).
Now I'm not sure if I should wait for the 'new' ones! |

They've been out since March-ish I think it was. Oh well...I have a few weeks to decide whether I want the brushes asap or wait for the 'new' line |

I love my #25. I wonder if they are going to keep calling the new design "#25". The last time they were back in stock, I ordered. I wasn't sure if I would like it or how I would use it, but it's been a great brush for me -- I use it when my pressed MMU gets to the botton of the pan. The #25 is firmer and denser than my regular flat-top that I was using, so it picks up minerals better when I get to that point with my pressed MMU. |

Just in case anyone else wanted an update about the alima brushes. I asked whether it'd be worth waiting for the new brushes.
Only you can really decide if it's worth waiting for the new brush. I promise you that it will be as good as the current version, or we won't put it into production. If you think you might order other brushes from us in the future, it might be nice to wait because then you'll be able to have them match. On the other hand, you will have to wait longer for the new one. Which ever way you decide to go, you'll have a functionally lovely brush. The new one will just be prettier to look at. |

they're finally back for those on the wait list! They said that it'd be 6 weeks until they received their shipment of their new brushes from their new source. I've emailed to ask what the more precise difference will be between the old raved about #25 and their new ones. Will update when I get a response. |

I just got Alima's newsletter saying the new brushes are FINALLY in, and at 15% off to boot. They had a little blurb about how they've changed the #25 slightly, and while I'm sure you could find it on their site somewhere, I'm copying it in here just in case:
Quote: |
It has finally arrived. Believe us, we were as anxious as you! But the brushes are here now and we are extremely excited to introduce them to you. One word of caution, however. Early on in the process, we told some customers that our #25 Foundation brush would be the same as the old one, just with our updated look, and that was our original intent. However, through the process, it became clear that we could improve the brush with some slight changes We understand that not everyone will agree with us, especially since the #25 has such a dedicated following, but we hope you'll give it a chance. Here's what you can expect:
The previous #25 had a well-deserved reputation for being one of the softest, most dense brushes available. Softness and density are wonderful, but they also led to a few issues that we occasionally heard complaints about. First, the brush took forever and a day to dry. It was difficult to wash every last trace of foundation from it, and once you did, you could pretty much plan on your brush being on the sidelines for at least a day, often two. And on a related note, because it wasn't easy to wash, some people put off washing it as frequently as they should. Once product built up inside the bristles, it tended to kind of compact the bristles together, making it more difficult to achieve the beautiful, sheer layers that make your skin look radiant.
Our new #25 brush, while still extremely soft and dense, has "springier" bristles. With a bit more body the bristles won't tend to compact. It will also be easier to clean thoroughly and drying time should be greatly reduced, something we can all appreciate. (A side note, please do not ever apply heat to man-made bristles to hurry the drying process. All you will achieve is speeding up the demise of your brush.) This new brush will help you to apply sheer layers of foundation, making it much easier to reach the coverage you desire without looking heavy or cakey. If you do prefer to apply one heavier layer of foundation, don't despair, we'll have something for you in our expanded brush collection later this year (you might also wish to try our flocked sponge).
Aside from the #25 being quite similar to the old #25 (but not exactly the same), our other brushes are new, improved, and reflect our beautiful new design. We hope you enjoy the quality as well as the beauty, and we appreciate your patience.
#17 Blush Brush - An ultra-soft, fluffy brush perfect for applying mineral blush or bronzer. $20
#21 Buff Brush- A petite brush created to blend edges or apply primer, color balancing, and shimmer powders. $24
#25 Foundation Brush - Soft and dense for perfect application of sheer layers of mineral foundation. $27
#30 Pointed Crease Brush - Shaped for defining the inner and outer corners of the eye and for blending eye shadow. $14
#31 Fine Liner / Concealer Brush - A thin, firm brush perfect for spot concealing and for lining the eyes with a pencil-like motion. $12
#33 Angle Liner / Brow Brush - A soft but firm angled brush for defining the brows or applying eyeliner in more of a sweeping, liquid-type application motion. $12
#35 Eye Detail Brush - A thin, firm brush designed for detailing around the eyes: highlight inner corner, define outer corner, smudge eyeliner. $12
#39 Large Shadow - Firm and soft, designed for applying shadow over the lid and under the brow. This brush is also genious to use "foundation brush style" to apply your undereye concealer. $14 |
Hope this helps! I bet they're going to run out of their first round of 25s pretty quick, so if you're one of the hardcore followers desperate to get ahold of this, I'd make my move soon. |

I'm going to try one of these new 25s. Have already got the "old" one, but I wouldn't mind another as, like the newsletter says, it does take forever to dry |

I have tried a few times today to order at Alima and keep getting an error message when attempting to put items in the cart (I tried in Firefox and IE).
I sent a message, asking if there was a problem, but haven’t had a reply. But, I did send through the website, rather than sending direct email, so maybe if there’s a problem with the site they haven't got my message either... m ...
Anyone else had a problem ordering recently? |

I ordered mine last night (late) without a problem. Spent way too much money. Got the #25, the gold eyeshadow set, the lipgloss set, and a handful of samples. But I got free shipping and the free gift. Yay! |

Just processed my order successfully. Not sure why I was having trouble last night.
Now for some reason, at checkout I was given 15% discount on the two brushes I got, the 25 and 17 blush. Very strange, but I'm not complaining
If you want an Alima brush, now might be a good time to order, as you "might" get 15% discount, like I did. (was only on the brushes, not other products I bought) |

Hi skim
Do Alima offer free gifts like EDS? Or do you mean the free gift wrapping and free samples?
TIA |

their email bulletin shows that until Dec 24, all brushes are 15% off. If you spend $50, you also get a free gift set. You're supposed to enter which gift set you want in the comments section at check out. The email has two names. |

skim - i somehow missed the 15% off comment by ginnielizz above
was there a choice of free gifts? i only saw one, the three eyeshadows with cranberry blush... but then I missed the mention of 15% discount also
one thing I can confirm though is alima are now using a "loyalty points" type scheme, which means each purchase accrues points which you can then use to get discount on later purchases. I got a few dollars off my latest order due to past purchases... |

Thanks very much skim. I've just placed an order for brushes, blush samples, foundation, eyeshadow samples and finishing powder samples. It was over $150, so got free shipping too, and I requested the free gift as well |

No probs appletini...generally when I want to purchase something online, I check if it ships to the UK and the costs. But have to say that although its great that Alima offers free international shipping for orders over $150, I did have difficulty in bulking up my order (cos all the samples were only $1) but I dont usually have this problem for my skincare orders . |
