on the heels particularly and also for cuticles? Or is there something else that works better to slough and keep smooth? (beside buffing it and having pedicures) |

I use the Microplane foot file
www microplane com
It takes about 2 minutes. Saves me so much time!
I could never commit to putting lotion on, plus your skin is greasy and you either slip in your shoes or it grabs dirt from the carpet and it's too hot for socks in summer. |

I should get a microplane. They are metal right? I have one from Brazil that they use at the spa I go to for pedicures and I love the feeling but it takes a long time. It is a wooden paddle thing. I agree - can't ever seem to get used to the feeling of the greasy feet, especially in the summer. I thought those metal ones made the skin jagged. It is soothe? Is that the brand or are there many of them out there. |

I use lactic acid 10% and also glycolic acid 50% but only on my soles where the skin is very thick. It's OK but what I need is a thick cream with AHA or BHA in it. I normally use a glass type pumice bar. |

Wonder if you could just make it. I was thinking of adding some to this huge chunk of shea butter I have. |

My hubby uses Lachydrin, with lactic acid. Very good for dry feet, but greasy. He fell in the shower one time after using it the night before and forgetting to be careful.
We also have a swedish clover file and a microplane and they do help, but a good lotion is essential afterwards.
Badger balm makes a good foot balm that helps with odor as well. |

My friend always sprinkles her shoes with baby powder to soak up the moisture in shoes to prevent them from getting smelly. I know this won't help to get the smell off your feet, but it will help them from smelling in the first place. |

A friend of mine puts her shoes in the freezer from time to time to remove the smell from them. She claims it helps. |

Yes, it is metal. It's so much faster than the regular ones you will not believe it!
As far as needing lotion goes, I don't find it really scratchy but I do finish up with a very quick buff of my Tweezerman foot file and then I don't need any lotion at all. |

Hi guapa. Do you do a foot "mask" or do you make up a solution and apply it under lotion or by itself? |

Hi daydreaming, I use Jason's Tea Tree body powder in my shoes and on my feet. It helps a lot. Also, if you don't already, make sure you wash your feet well every time you shower (some people don't think of it). I use a combination brush and pumice "tool" and brush my feet everywhere where I don't use the pumice end. Also wearing mostly cotton socks helps a lot too b/c of the natural fibers. |

Soak your feet in Listerine and spray a mist of Listerine inside your closed-toe shoes. If you use a plastic shoebox for the foot soak, you can re-use the Listerine several times before throwing it out. |

Try putting a fabric softener sheet in your shoes after wearing them. It will help to neutrilize any odor that has built up in your shoes. Also, don't wear your shoes 2 days in a row and don't wear sythetic socks--your feet can't breathe. My brother has had the worst smelling feet his entire life and this worked for him. |

Thank you ALL for all the brilliant ideas! I must try tonite!!
amnie, I do wash my feet thoroughly everytime ... the problem is my feet sweat too much... so after wearing any shoes for more than 1/2 hr, they become smelly!! ![Sad](images/smiles/sad.gif) |

Hmmm....as usual, you ladies have given me a great idea! - I still have .5 oz.of Alpha Hydroxy glycolic acid peel left that I quit using and wasn't sure what to do with.
The consistancy is like water, so I applied some avocado oil around the nails, then dropped in the glycolic acid and massaged for 5 minutes before rinsing off. Cuticles still aren't super soft, but hopefully after a few more treatments all the dead skin will slough off...If this works, the feet are next! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

For smelly parts try a suppliment of Zinc. 25-50mg a day for about a week should stop the -, then maintain with 10-15mg (whats in a normal multivitamin). You will want to eat this with a meal though, because Zinc can upset the stomach. |

I love the microplane foot file! Sometimes you don't realize what amazing work it is doing until you look and see what all came off your feet
QVC has a great combo offer for a microplane foot file with two heads (the grater and a buffer), a jar of foot balm, and a longer handle than the original one:
Microplane 4-piece Remove, Smooth, and Hydrate Foot Care Set
Item Number V25812
QVC Price $24.25
Introductory Price $21.93
Shipping and Handling $4.72
http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail
I find this one even better than the Microplane Orb I already had. The "grater" on this one is bigger and the handle makes it easier to work with.
For the smell of feet, Dr. Oz was recently on Oprah recommending soaking feet in a strong tea solution. Supposedly it's the tannins that help dry out the excess moisture, etc. On a followup show, many people said they tried it and it worked for them. See http://www.oprah.com/health/oz/oz_20070426_350_110.jhtml |
