This may be old news to many of you, but I just found why some ebayers are able to sell you products at such huge discounts when compared to prices of the originals from reputable vendors. Aside from the traditional knock-off products commonly copied and remanufactured in China then repackaged for sales to look like the originals. . . it appears that those selling the true originals are actually selling outdated products. What this mean is that the original manufacturer has ceased production of the product and has moved onto the next generation of it (either reformulations with newer ingredients in the case of creams, etc. OR has simply begin to incorporate newer technology in cases of electronic devices). When this occurs, the vendors and distributors will wholesale at huge discounts to ebay resellers, who'll make you think you're getting a huge deal, which you are. . .with one caveat. Technical and customer support from the manufacturer and original distributor (ebay reseller typically have no product knowledge to begin with) for that product will begin to cease and if anything happens then you're out of luck.
Another thing that I have seen is the ebay resellers will falsely advertise the product (with the goal of emptying their inventory of course) because the Better Business Bureau nor any other regulatory agencies monitor ebay reseller advertisments. For example, I have seen Ultrasonic Massager advertised as a 2 MHZ device readvertised as a 3 MHZ, however, when the original manufacturer (not ebay reseller) was contacted, they plainly stated that it was a previous generation 2MHZ device with a previous generation power adaptor and no tech support is available for it anymore.
Anyway, just a word of warning to all! |

I buy on ebay all the time and have never had a negative experience! I usually only purchase from a U.S. based seller (although I have made exceptions) and always one with a very high feedback rating from other buyers. |

Like Pilar, I've never had a bad experience purchasing on ebay but then again, I'm careful about what and from whom I buy.
I don't buy new skincare product I've never tried before. I will buy skincare products I HAVE used before, because then I'll know enough to ask about expiration date, etc. before I bid.
I NEVER purchase anything from Asia, those are the ones most likely to offer counterfeit items. American, Canadian and European sellers only.
I also check the feedback left for seller AND feedback the seller leaves for others. I'm looking to see if buyers indicate that the item was as described, good communications, etc. |

My husband has had a bad experience, but honestly, it was a calculated risk that we could afford to lose.
I agree with athena that it's important to check the seller's feedback, number of transactions, etc. Also, make sure the feedback is from other customers. I've seen cases where a person built up positive feedback as buyer, but did not have alot of transactions as a seller. I would be wary of someone like that.
We've bought/sold hundreds of items on ebay, and overall, it's been very positive. |

I've never had any bad experiences from buying off ebay either, but I have had a few minor ones when selling
I rarely buy skincare products from ebay. But if I do, I always buy from ebay shops and for non-skincare products from those with more than 50 postive feedbacks. But I do know that ebayers from Asia are a bit..Hmm deceiving
But thanks for posting this useful info! |

Yup. The ebay or yahoo sellers sell the products in low price. Although it is dangerous, it is attractive. I have bought from yahoo a few times. Luckily, no negative feeling have been obtained. I will try before using on the face and buy with a very high feedback rating from other buyers.
Thank you for your warning. |

Should all skin care items have an expiration date on them? There have been times that I emailed an ebay seller asking for an expiration date, and they replied that it didn't have one. For example last week I asked about Oil of Olay eye cream and serum. I would have thought that those would have expiration dates. |

I would have thought all skincare products would have an expiry date on them especially those "fresh, all natural" products.
And I've checked most of my products now, and they all seem to have an expiry date BUT my Juice Beauty green apple peel doesnt have one |

This is a good warning. I buy from ebay all the time. I do try to buy from the power sellers with high rating. I have only had one negative experience, but it didn't kill me. I just wouldn't buy from that vendor again. |

They should but sometimes different companies use different coding systems for dates. It could be the case that the seller do not know who to decode the numbers on the boxes or bottles? Often products I bought from stores I couldnt figure out how to read those numbers, I usually end up calling the 1-800 number. |

I do alot of buying on eBay. Never any problem here. Just don't buy from someone who doesn't have lots of good feedback I would think. |

Personally i had never bought skincare on ebay. I would never have the peace of mind using it especially if its expensive. If its really cheap like samples maybe its okay. Just my opinion. |

I have bought from Ebay loads of times. I was only caught once where I paid for the products and they weren't shipped to me.
Once I informed my visa card co. they refunded me straight away. Make sure that you have insurance cover on your visa. |

Not sure if we're allowed, but can you share some of the names/stores of the ebay sellers you trust? I'm personally looking for a reliable seller that sells Skinceutical samples, but any seller you can share will be helpful!
If this isn't allowed on the forums, mods please feel free to delete! |

I've been very tempted to order skin care products from eBay, but just can't bring myself to do it. I feel better buying from someone reputable and having piece of mind about the product I purchased. |

I'm not sure if this is allowed either.
If not, well, ooopps!
I've ordered from Midwest Sales and Jenny Skincare with no problems. Fast delivery and fresh product. HTH |

When I was into Murad, I ordered from Midwest Sales or brownsugarcloset.
I purchase JB products from jadedylan and Marilyn Miglin perfumes from a seller named meidy - I'm a repeat customer with all of these sellers. |
