I've started wearing sunscreen on a daily basis (finally!) and I've noticed that even formulations that aren't supposed to make my skin oilier, do.
I was thinking about just cutting out moisturizer to see if my skin would be less oily throughout the day, but I'm wondering if this is a bad idea. Do you use less, or simply much lighter, moisturizers with sunscreen?
For reference, I am currently sampling the Avene 30+ spray-on sunscreen.
Thanks!

I am not using moisturizer right now, just the sunscreen. IMO,as long as you don't feel dry you can skip moisturizer during summer. |

I wear physical s/s on my face and no moisturizer. I find that s/s alone give me enough moisture/oil during the day; my skin is normal/dry. |

When I lived in the States, I went without moisturizer when I was going to put on sunscreen. Now I live in Beijing, which tends to be very dry, so I apply both. I just think it depends on what kind of formulation you're using, your skin type, your climate, etc. Bottom line, if your skin feels fine without moisturizer, I think it should be okay to go without. |

Alright, I'm going to try going without moisturizer for today. Having both that and s/s feels heavy on my skin.
Thanks!

Yes, as with the other members here, I dont use moisturiser under sunscreen.
I dont find a problem with this as my skin doesnt feel dry and tight. But maybe in the winter, I will see whether I will need a moisturiser or maybe just a moisturiser with SPF |

Unlike most of you, I use moisturizer always under sunscreen all year long. Now in summer, I use moisturizing milk instead of cream, although I don't have dry skin, it still makes me feel uncomfortable if I wear sunscreen alone. |

The only reason I can think of wearing moisturizer under sunscreen is if the sunscreen irritates your skin than applying moisturizer first (and obv waiting for it to sink in) might provide a shield for the sunscreen.
What most skincare ppl already know is that the difference between "sunscreen" and "moisturizer with spf" is simply marketing. Most sunscreens are emollient and either give or help your skin retain moisture, so if you can apply only sunscreen with no adverse affects then by all means do it.
Likewise, my moisturizer+sunscreen combo isn't actually that moisturizing, so in the winter I apply additional moisturizer underneath. |
