I'd like to buy myself a new purse (as in a credit card and coin purse, not a handbag purse ) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for something a bit different and unusual? I'm in the UK and have been looking on ebay and have seen two by Marc Jacobs that look nice, and one by Lauren Sepia (?). I want it to be leather, and a decent size for cards, notes, coins, receipts etc. Any ideas? If I knew how to I would post the links but I'm a bit of a technophobe! |

Lovcat is a great line if you're looking for something kinda cool...I have a really unusual purple leather lovcat clutch/wallet that always inspires a comment or two!

Thanks for your suggestions. I can't seem to get onto the Lovcat website for some reason. The Mulberry purses are fab but a little out of my price range
I've found a few other Marc Jacobs on ebay and am keeping an eye on them. Please keep the suggestions coming though, they're very much appreciated! |

I love my Lodis opera frame clutch for cash and cards. Salesclerks always notice it... It is not so great as a coin purse, so I carry a separate small vintage Whiting and Davis mesh kiss-lock bag for change. Both make me feel spoiled. Another great brand is Bosca - do a web search and try ebay. Both these brands come in great colors and textures. The older I get, the more I appreciate spending money on things I use everyday - quality wallets, purses, toothbrushes, skin care, cereal - whatever, rather then the special occasion stuff. It's that "life is great" everyday mentality (you know, like L'Oreal "I'm worth it"). Cause if you gotta skimp and save, whatever you splurge on should be something that speaks to you as often as possible! |

How about Head Porter? It's nice. If u'd prefer cute style, u can go for a Japanese Brand called Tsumori Chisato. The leather is really soft and the design is awesome!!! If u can afford a higher price, u may pick Bottega Veneta. The style is classic and the leather is of excellent quality. It's durable and u ll never find it out-dated... something worthwhile though... |

If you're looking at designer bags on Ebay - I highly recommend going to the Purse Forum and having it authenticated.
I've seen so many people buy fakes on Ebay. The purse forum also has stickies on sales, styles and subforums by designer.
I just got my Miu Miu Coffer and each bag I looked at on Ebay was a fake. |

Thanks for that suggestions Rjez, it looks like a really useful forum. How do you go about getting an item authenticated though? |

If you see the designer listed, go to that subforum. In the top section will be "authenticate this" thread.
You can post photos without using an external site.
If you don't see your designer listed - go to Handbags & Purses. |

I was also wondering about the authenticity of the Marc Jacobs when Rachael mentioned the Mulberry was out of her price range, implying MJ was cheaper ??
I don't have any Mulberry but find MJ one of the pricier lines, although if it's from the MJ second line Marc for Marc Jacobs it should be a little cheaper (if that's the right word). I bought a Marc Jacobs hobo/shoulder bag about 4 or 5 years ago and it was just under US$1,000. I remember the price clearly as it was the most expensive bag I had ever bought... at the time
In my experience MJ is priced around the same point as LV (just a tad lower) ... someone please correct me if I've got it wrong. |

Yup, MJ is a premier designer line. If you do enjoy designer and premier designer lines - the purse forum is great because people are always listing sales and even specific bags that are seen at discount.
Trusted sites selling authenticate bags include Bluefly, Styledrops and Bag Borrow or Steal. |

I have given up on ebay as too many fakes being sold. I have found a MJ wallet on sale at NM and they ship internationally so I'm going to purchase it from there. Thanks for the advice and for directing me to The Purse Forum. It's a great site, my new favourite! |

Oh yeah ... pics please!
That's great that you found your purse on sale from a good store. If anything happens, you know you can return it. |

I can't believe it just went to order my purse and they're sold out! Have found other slightly different ones on Bloomingdales and Nordstrom websites, so all may not be lost. This just goes to prove my philosophy that when you see something you like you should just buy it ! |

Rachael - is there any way you can call? Or do a live chat on their website. I think many times they're sold out but may have something in the store if they call.
BTW - I was told that Neiman Marcus online has different inventory than the store - but I assume would honor same pricing. |

What about Prada?
I have been using mine over 10 years and it is still in good condition. But I don't suggest their handbags though. They aren't as good as the purses. |

Woo hoo, Rachael! Which MJ clutch did you buy, the Softy Zip Clutch or the Totally Turnlock Clutch? Several weeks ago I purchased a Bosco Malaga Checkbook Clutch that I accidentally stumbled across on a fabulous sale and I must say, I am very pleased with it!!! The smell of the leather is so intoxicating and rich - talk about a yummy indulgence for my moola! |
