I wax my upper lip at home, and may try my legs.
I prefer solid wax, as I find it's results are far better; the solid wax grabs each & every little hair! |

I'm hooked on the convenience of the pre-wax strips but agree that the performance is less impressive. |

I used to use Veet's wax strips but I now use my epilator and thanks to EDS, I use...cant remember the name---is it Epicare (threading) on my upper lip, which is soooo much better.
I've never tried other waxing methods though, due to the convenience of Veet |

I use Nads for the...um...private area, and it works really well. It's not really a wax, more like a sugaring, I think they call it. But it is removed with cloth strips. I also tried it on my DH's back, but he didn't like it so much. Just goes to show you that women have a higher pain threshold. |

I use soft wax remove with strips. It's a bit messy at times. and I always had trouble opening the lid of the wax bottle. As of the results I am happy with it - usually the results last me for at least 2 months. |

I wax my legs - soft/hot wax with cloth strips. Took some time to get used to doing it myself, but now I've been doing it for good 5-6 years. |

For a first time waxer, would it be safer to get it done professionally than risk it at home?
The only time I ever got waxed was when I got my eyebrows shaped maybe 7 years ago, but I was raw for a week! |

I use Nads but only around my eyebrows. I like paying someone to wax anything else. I can't deliver pain like that to myself. |

just another quick question...
how long does the smooth waxing last for various body parts? And has anyone noticed a difference in the length of time they are stubble-free between at-home vs. salon? |

Be careful, CM!!! I'm a veteran waxer, and I generally use sugar wax with cloth strips, however, once when I was going to wax my legs and bikini line the store was out of the wax I usually use, so I tried the solid wax instead. Anyways, I had a b*tch of a time getting it to peel off completely, and the upshot of the whole messy business was that my body and bathroom were both covered in globs of sticky wax, UGH!!! I hopped in the tub right away to attack the offending wax with baby oil, however, since I only use all-natural, mineral oil-free oils they didn't work and I had to send DH out for some mineral oil-based baby oil, UGH!! The baby oil worked (eventually), however, cleaning up my bathroom was another matter entirely. I STILL have clumps of wax stuck in the carpet, etc. After that fiasco, DH told me that he would prefer I go to the salon to have it done from now on, no matter how high the cost. |

manslayerliz, try using a blow dryer on the wax to get it to soften/melt before cleaning it up. I spilt some candle wax and the blow dryer did the trick. |

For my legs I started with the prewaxed strips then moved on to the soft wax with muslin cloth. It's been over ten years now and I guess I've yanked most of the roots out as I haven't waxed in the past 2 years and there's only one or two strays which are easily grabbed and eliminated. Then again the hairlessness could also be from the aging process. |

I do "sugaring". It's messy but at least it's water soluble. |

I dont trust laser, plus it aint exactly permanant. You can look up this definition for laser hair removal, and they are quite tricky with using this. But permanant for laser hair removal = 6 months maybe 1 year. I have read quite extensively about laser hair removal a while back when i was considering it.
I even tried it a couple of years ago. 11-12 treatments which is alot more then their recommended 4-5. But in fact this happend to make the condition worse SO what a waste of money and psychological problems cause they make it like oooh something is wrong with you. In fact once i stoped all the hair grew back in fact more and worser. WHen i say more and worser i mean cause she had zapped the places with very very fine baby hair and well they came back darker and longer if you know what i mean.
Ever since that i have read a number of cases with whom the situation has been made worse. Maybe more people dont even report on this? cause they go on with the quote "Results vary" Yea right. I think laser DOES NOT WORK for hair removal and also if the person administering it doesnt know what they doing it is 10 TIMES WORSE. Since then i have tried electrolysis im quite happy with it. Also when you think about it studies are still yet to do the long term effects from laser ........
As for laser for skin purposes hmmmm dont no about this one may work. BUT THEN IM TOTALLY OFF LASER SKIN OR FOR HAIR REMOVAL
By the way i have tried wax strips as well as pre wax with cotton strips only a couple of times my technique is not very good so i stick to shaving |

I usually use prewaxed strips. The results aren't phenomenal, but the method is super easy and convenient.
Btw, I had electrolysis done awhile back and the technician told me that she had clients who had had laser hair removal done and had increased hair growth. Don't know if she was just trying to reassure me on my decision or what, but reading what Simran went through, I wouldn't be surprised if she was telling the truth. |
