I just got some Inner Health Plus but it dosent say on the bottle whether it should be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Does anyone know? Ive googled but havent found the info i want.
Also does anyone know how long you can take it for. Im hoping it will help with a recurring thrush problem.
Thanks ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Hey carol, I use the kind of acidophilus that doesn't need to be refrigerated. [Wild Oats Food Origins] The instructions indicate it should be taken with a glass of water, preferably before meals. No word on whether it's best taken at night or in the morning. I usually take it in the morning along with all my other supplements. If I'm taking antibiotics, I'll take 2 capsules instead of one. |

The main thing to make sure of is that you don't take these too close to your antibiotics (if that's why you're taking them), because they'll totally negate the effect. So you have to stagger your acidophilus and antibiotics at least two hours apart. And since the antibiotics are more likely to make your stomach upset if you take them without food, you should take antibiotics with meals, and acidophilus spaced as far as you can with just a glass of water or a small snack. |

carolb69,
My DH and I take probiotics prior to our meal.
ginnielizz is absolutely correct in her advice regarding probiotics and antibiotics. Again, space the two at least two hours apart.
The main thing is you are taking them. There are so many health benefits to taking probiotics. I even give them to my two Scottish Terriers daily. ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/rolleyes.gif) |

My old roommate's dog had a very sensitive stomach (=i.e. she'd barf or fart or have horrible diarrhea SO easily, it was awful!) and she fed her probiotics with every meal. It really seemed to help! |

I take my probiotics right before I go to bed (a few hours after I have eaten and taken my evening supplements).
I remember when I was taking Jarrow formula their bottle recommended they be taken at least 20 min before a meal or 60 min after a meal. I'm now taking Nature's Way Primadophilus Optima and it doesn't say anything on their bottle. It's strange how some brands say when to take them and some don't. IMO, it's a very important detail! |

Thanks everyone Im just taking mine 1/2 an hr before either lunch or tea.
It does seem strange they dont say on the bottle whether to take on an empty stomach or not. |
