I heard that u shouldn't apply eye cream/gel directly near your eyes area. The right way to apply it is on the brow bone and just below the eye sockets cuz if u apply it directly on the eyes area, u might develop milia. Is that true? But for example, if you're applying sunscreen, how does that area be protected if u don't apply it directly there? Also, if u have a fine line there, how is that gonna do anything to the line if u don't apply product directly there? I'm really confused. Can someone with more knowledge jump in and let me know?? Thanks ![Wink](images/smiles/wink.gif) |

that's a good question and you bring up some good points. i'm no expert, but i've been patting my eye cream close to my eyes and i have no adverse reaction so far, thus i've been always patting it close to the eye. |

The correct way to apply eye cream (according to the experts) is to apply it on the eye bone and through the eye movements of the day the cream works its way up. I used to apply it near my eyes and had puffy and swollen eyes as a result. |

I've always been instructed the same way, and to use the ring finger to pat it on with. I guess that finger has the less strength.
At night, I don't follow that rule, but do in the mornings so my eyeshadow/liner stay on. I get very close to my eyes at night and haven't had any problems. |

I heard exactly what Lola Moroney just stated - the cream is meant to "travel" up towards the eye and doesn't need to be applied so close. So you apply it below, on the brow bone, and around the side by patting it on with your ring finger.
When I use an SPF eye cream I tend to not get too close to the eye, but otherwise I actually apply it close to the eye and have not had any problems (millia etc). Millia, IMO, tends to come from using creams that are too rich for your skin type. HTH |

I watched on QVC that you should dab three tiny dots of your cream/gel onto each of your eye socket bones, then use your ring finger to gently dab it along the rest of your eye socket and up to your brow bone.
Im not sure why though but it makes sense that it may travel upwards through eye movement.

I also pat eye cream around the brow bone and on the bone under my eye. My eyes get very puffy if I apply it too close to my eyes.
Suncream applied near my eyes stings like mad |
