Oh dear Lord!! I went a little OCM crazy tonight and now I look like sunburned raccoon! Has anyone done this??
Well, I think I did two things wrong:
1) Ok, I made up a new batch of OCM, but instead of measuring I just eyeballed it and I was talking to my child when I made it. Well, I think I may have a mixture closer to 50/50. I figured it would be ok for a bit until I could add more EVOO. I haven't used 50/50 in ages, but I didn't think it could be this wrong. Could this be why I look like a tourist in Hawaii?
2) I over did the session. You see,we did a bunch of cleaning today and I was pooped. So I pulled out my new batch of oil and started watching a movie....no commercials. I wasn't watching the time (I find OCM very relaxing), but a flag should have gone off when my fingers started to hurt. It was almost two hours!!!!!
When I finally pulled my tired butt off the couch to put my little one to bed....I saw my face!!! I look like I've been skiing for goodness sake!!! I have pale eye sockets and bright red nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin and white neck!!! Ahhhhh!!!! My face now feels dry and a little raw!
Do you think it was too much Castor oil??? It's been 30 minutes and my face is still bright red!! Tonight is suppose to be my Retin A night (every other) but I'm worried my face will revolt!! Any suggestions? Should I use it or wait?
Can I put something on to help? I really like what the retin a is doing, but I don't want to get flakies.
Ahhhh! Help me! Has anyone over done it and had a reaction???? What did you put on it?
Thanks
Oh, to explain....as long as I get grains coming out I just keep rubbing with the OCM. I was getting a ton yuck out on my nose (which doesn't usually happen. It's normally on my cheeks). I have never gone this long before. Ahhhh! |

Oil cleansing method.
I would def wait until the redness subsides before you apply any kind of active. |

Maybe it was the fricton, not the oil itself that caused the redness.
Hope you're doing better. |

You may want to take a break from Retin A. Until your face calms down and sign of irritation goes away then you can go back to Retin A. Just remember your skin can only take so much at a time, it tells you when to stop and you have watch for the signs. |

Hi all,
Thanks for replying! Well, I waited until the redness went down some(2 hours later!) and decided to only spot treat with the retin a on the areas I thought might not react (outside and under eyes and neck).
This morning my face looked better but still felt tender. Well, I figured I would do my normal thing...OCM (5-10min!!) and then Vit C etc. Well, my face inflamed again!!! I was thinking it was the Castor oil, but Violetanne mentioned friction. I hadn't thought of that as I don't really press too hard (except around my nose).
I'm sitting here with a hydrating mask on hoping to calm my skin down. It is one I had from Este Lauder (no stoning eds members for mentioning the Lauder now!....tsk).
I haven't used that line for quite some time after finding wonderful brands on here, but I still had some of this mask which is nice in winter. BUT man!! I almost wiped it off! I put it on and for a couple seconds IT BURNED!! I think it is just all the extra crap lauder has in it that my face isn't used to anymore. It doesn't hurt now and my face is feeling better even if I look like a virgin in a brothel.
I think I'm going to lay off the products today (I think any actives or sunsreen will hurt too much!). I need to find my EMU oil (I misplaced it).
Hey, I have some Welda skin food....do you think that would work or cause me to burn or break out??
PS The funny thing is...despite the redness my skin looks really smooth! Isn't that ironical? (yes, I said ironical...I was watching Will and Grace this morning). ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

I wouldn't put anything on except gentle application of emu or some other oil. In fact I wouldn't even clean my face til it's better! |
