Does anyone have a recipe for home made retinol - if it is the same as Vitamin A could we not theoretically make it from Vitamin A ?? Does anyone know ? I have used the DIY Vitamin c serum and the sugar scrub described and have loved the results. |

Hi and welcome
I think if you want *effective* retinol products, you should leave diy alone. Retinoic acid is very seriuos stuff and really only available on prescription. If you just want vit A then rosa moscata oil is very high in vit A |

I agree with guapagirl - it can be tricky to get the right concentration in your own diy formula and pure form of retinol at pharmaceutical grade maybe not be easily accessible. |

Retin A is apparantly derived from egg yolks
Maybe that is a safe alternative ie: using masks
I like using carrot seed oil as that is high in Vit A
Let us know if you do any research and come up with anything. |

I was at the greek food store and I saw some citric acid...it is used for home preserving. It is powder crystals. I mixed a small amount with water, and left it on my face for about 5 minutes. It tingled, and I rinsed it off...no redness, and then in two days, my face felt a little dry, like it WANTED to peel, but wasn't going to, and I got a small purge blemish. So, I've mixed a little more citric acid, and left it on a bit longer, this is 4 days later. It may be better mixed in with other things in a scrub. I would like a diy peel, too. Has anyone used citric acid in any other diy concoctions??? |

Citric acid is used to adjust PH in skin care. |

I just came across this on the Garden Of Wisdom forum
Easy Retinol Serum:
Take your favourite carrier oil and add 2% of
Vitamin A acetate
Thats it, I haven't tried this but I hope this helps. |

Thanks a lot for te replies everybody - will look at a prescription strength or the green cream as that seems to have gotten a lot of good reviews. |

Is rosa moscata oil rosehip seed oil? I'm conflicted whether it's good or bad - Used to use it and love it but had bumpy skin. Several forum members warded me off it and skin less bumpy now... Hmmm? |
