OBAGI ?

Hello everyone. Smile

I'm new here, and i have been doing a little reading about Obagi products. It seems they have their pros and cons, but most seem to be satisfied with their results. I was wondering if anyone here can help me find a good skin care routine. Thankfully I have good skin now, I have been on accutane and it has cleared my face of major spots and acne. However i still have some small remainder spots, and some sunspots.
Does anyone around here know what Obagi product would suit me ? I don't want anything harsh as my skin is extremely sensitive. Rolling Eyes

You don't want obagi then, as it is a strong system with a lot of redness and peeling/flaking of the skin. I think obagi is more for people who have severe hyperpigmentation than anything else. Just my 2 cents!

I agree with rileygirl, Obagi probably would not be your best choice. Can you give more information so members can offer you the best suggestions. What is your age, What is your skin tone, do you suffer from discoloration or ruddiness, is your skin normal, dry, oily or combo, any issues with fine lines, etc.

The more information you provide the better answers you will receive.

I'd agree with the other ladies too. Obagi is really strong and I started slowly phasing it out after it gave me back my baby skin (well not really, but I was happy enough). I still use their foaming gel cleanser + toner but these are the 2 non-treatment elements from their kit.

Having said that, after stopping Obagi, I started getting some occasional breakouts back, especially around 'that time of the month' and when I'm under a lotta stress.

I plan try Bioclear + Transformation Cream to keep these small annoyances away. They seem "relatively" mild compared to Obagi (I was on 1% Retin-A for the longest time!) and are simple enough (vs. 3, 4 steps for Obagi for AM and PM).

Sweet, if you only have minor spots and marks, I would suggest you to buy ONE of these:

1. Obagi Clear
2. Obagi sunfader
3. Obagi blender

Please, do not get convinced of buying the entire system, as the other said, your problem is minor to use the entire system, which is harsh. If you only use ONE of the products above, you will be getting hydroquinone 4%, that is a 'bleaching' ingredient that will help you get rid of the spots. It does work for itself, do not get caught on buying anyhitng else!!

to help with exfoliation and consequently diminishing the spots, you can use a BHA.

Now, I suggest this routine, very simple and very effective:

1. Cetaphil cleanser. If you hate it, try La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying foaming gel.

2. Paula's choice (cosmeticscop) BHA 2% liquid

3. The obagi with hydroquinone that you chose

4. Moisturizer IF you need it (obagi has moisturizers enough for most people)

5. Clinique's super city block spf 25, or obagi's healthy skin protection spf 35, or Neutrogena's age shield sunblock spf 30.Do the same at night, plus any eye cream if you like it (again paula's choice has antioxidant serums terrific for your eyes)

TIPS:
Clinique city block is the dryest of mentioned blocks. Also, the more likely to make you break (titanium dioxide clogging pores), and I should tell it has a little color and mica, so your skin will look a little glowy, some migh think greasy. Obagi's block is probably the best option, but might be drying as well, and on some it leaves a whitish film. Neutrogena's block is the least prone to leave a white film, but as it also contains chemical sunscreens, it might be more irritating/greasy feeling. They compensate with silica, and it is overall a good product, but sometimes it 'peels'.

Note on OBAGI: When you do a little research on the obagi products I mentioned, you will be prompt to think they are very different from one another. that isn't true. They have the same ingredients, except:

1.Clear is our base.
2.Blender has one emollient more than Clear
3.Sunfader has the same as clear, except two chemical sunscreens.

Each will work for your problem, you just need one, and in case that you are not allergic to Octinoxate or Oxybenzone (chemical sunscreens), I would tell you to get the Sunfader, because it's the cheapest of the three, and you can use it even at night, no one is going to come after you! i use it and have the full results, it's just impossible not to get them, being the same formulation...

WARNING: you might be allergic to hydroquinone, and even if you are not, you might experience some burning, itching, redness, drying sensation, but it should be tolerable. Also, your skin might seem to darken at first, but over time you should be noticing clearing. If you don't see any improvement over one month, stop using the hydroquinone. If you're satisfied after three months, you can start using the hydoquinone only at night.

And that's all I can think of now. And I already know I talk too much Laughing
