For the past month I've been using the Reclaim line from Principal Secret. So far, I've had good results, but I haven't talked to anyone else who is using it. I love this forum because I'm learning so much about skin care. I told my husband about all of the great products that I've learned about here and want to try, and I think he's getting a little scared. One of he first things I'm going to get is a new beauty tool after I have the baby. I've told my husband that I deserve it, and he agreed. I have to give the man credit, because he doesn't get mad about the money spent as long as the product or gadget gets used and doesn't collect dust. So please let me know what you think. Have you tried PS? And what do you think could give my face a little pick me up after delivery? |

Hello, Ladies! I thought that it as time to give everyone an update on my progress so far.
For starters, I should tell you a little about my skin. I'm 27, pale, and easy to sunburn with oily, acne prone skin. I also have large pores and dry areas around the eyes. My facial lines are around my eyes and forehead. I think so many months of straining with morning sickness made those worse. I was using Proactiv Solution for the acne and oiliness, but the areas around my eyes were so dry that they began to hurt.
A couple of years ago I was at a Mary Kay party where I met a woman in her late 40's to early 50's who had beautiful skin. She told me she was using PS and that it made her skin feel so good that she wouldn't use anything else. We were a little shocked and asked her why she had come to the party then. And she said it was simple.....she needed makeup and to get out of the house and away from the kids! I blew it off because we weren't in the same age group and had different skin.
Anyway, being pregnant has NOT given me that glow that everyone keeps promising. I've never looked worse in my life. And I'm not even going to tell you how it's made me feel.......let's just say, when my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year I automatically said, "A Vasectomy"! But, back to my skin.
About 2 months ago I was watching an infomercial for PS and remembered that Mary Kay party. I was desperate with the dryness and new lines. So I grabbed my hubby's credit card and ordered the kit I thought would work on my problems.
After 6 weeks, I do look better. My eyes are more hydrated, pores are smaller, and the lines are getting better too. I've also had less breakouts. The line in my forehead is almost gone. My 2 favorite products are the Amazing Eye Serum and the Gentle Enzyme Mask & Peel.
I know that everything can't work for everyone all of the time. This forum is great and I've been learning so much here. It will be interesting to see how my skin reacts after the baby is born this month. I'm hoping PS still works for me then. If not, I'm hoping that I'll find the right products here. I'm also still trying to decide which beauty tool to get. So, let me know what you think. Trust me, I'm grateful for any advice! |

Congratulations. Kids are absolutely the most wonderful thing. I say this and mine are 17 and 20! I used PS for awhile and like the products okay but found the customer service to be awful. I couldn't rely upon them to get me what I needed when I needed it. I have since switched to a collection of products from various sources. I use retin A, super CP serum from Skinbiology alternating with Vitamin C serum from PSF, and several other PSF products. I probably have different issues, being much older! |

Thanks, Oakview! I'm really excited about the baby, and a little nervous about how he's getting here (if you know what I mean, and I'm sure you do)! I'm sorry to here customer service wasn't good for you. So far, they've been ok for me. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your products and what do they do? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about taking care of myself. And how old are you and what is your skin type? You already know the Good, Bad, and Really Oily of mine! |

Hi, I tried one of Victoria Principal's products years ago - it was an enzyme mask featuring pineapple, great for exfoliating skin. [learned about it from an infomercial]. I tried it and didn't care for it because of the film it left but to give her credit, she was the first one that even made me aware of how effective an exfoliator papain and bromelain can really be. After I tried that, I started using the Fruit Enzyme mask by Murad[also contains papain] with much better results.
Good luck sweetie, don't forget you're more than your skin and that this too shall pass. |

I might try that mask after my stuff runs out. I need lots of exfoliation. Athena, I hope you're ready for a really good laugh.
My husband's been a little worried with me so close to the time, so I made a doctor's appointment and just now got back. They agreed with my husband that I am having all of the symptoms of labor and examined me. They told me that he was a good size, took a closer look, and..........the problem isn't him wanting to come out, he wants to stay in!!! ROFL When I called my husband at work and told him, all could say was how the baby did have it made in there.........free food, room, and board.
I shouldn't have posted this, but I just knew it would give you a little giggle. |

So it is almost time for your little bundle of joy to arrive. It is understandable that you are excited but nervous. You will do just fine. Please, after the baby is born do announce it in the lounge for all of us to see.
You will find you skin will change after the baby is born. Hold off buying anything else. The biggest advice I can give you is: If something is working well for you DON'T go spending all your money trying everything that sounds great on the forum. Every now and then a treat is nice. If something is working finish the product before purchasing more. The more products we have the more confused we get.
After you give birth if your needs change, I suggest getting a "try me" kit from EDS. You will have several products from one manufacturer. In most cases these kits are very affordable. In the search function type in your skin type. You will get suggestion that coincide with products talked about on the forum.

How sweet. Wow, I can feel your joy and excitement.
Best wishes to you Shylass. |

Thanks for the advice, Winnie. I have to admit that PS is working for me right now. I'm really glad that it's helping with the lines round the eyes and the one on my forehead. The one thing that I can't understand is the fact that using moisturizer hasn't made me oilier or breakout. Can anyone explain this? I've always been told that oily skin leads to breaking out and that's why the acne products dry out the skin. I'm thinking about getting a buff pad for sensitive skin from Walmart for when I wash my face. I need lots of exfoliation right now. I'm hoping that will help me keep my pores clean and my products soak in more. |

Shylass, I think my daughter is much closer to your age than I am! You definitely can't use Retin A while you are pregnant but I love that product. My daughter's derm even has her on it for anti-aging at 20. She doesn't use it everynight. We also both use sunscreen because of the Retin A. I like to use antioxidants, Vitamin C from PSF and R ALA complex from PSF. EDS carries much of the PSF line. Every third night I use super CP serum from Skinbiology. I sometimes use Rosehip seed oil as a moisturizer but am also liking the new night moisturizer from PSF. Obviously I am a PSF fan! As far as making the skin glow, I have had the best luck with Vitamin C, R ALA and to some extent the copper peptides. We also both use an eye cream - PSF super hydrating for me and Zia eye cream for her. I think it is never too early to start caring for your skin. I think Winnie is right, though, expect changes with your pregnancy and don't get too stressed. Many things return to normal, some don't but you will have a wonderful baby! |

ohmigod shylass what did I ever do to you? Are ya tryin't to kill me with your jokes? Just don't stop, it's wonderful! If you and your husband meet parenthood with the same wonderful sense of humor you've displayed here on EDS, you're gonna be great parents and your home will be filled with love, light and laughter!
I've never been pregnant so don't know what you're going through, but there are some actives that shouldn't be used while your pregnant or breastfeeding. Winnie's got a point not to make too many changes.
I'm not too sure about that buff pad from walmart, but I've heard a lot of great things about microfiber cleansing clothes for physical exfoliation. And yes, oily skin needs moisture too. When you use drying products, oil production can actually INCREASE. |

Thanks, Athena. You ladies are right, I'll wait before trying something new.
Athena, whatever you do......don't look on the laugh thread. I couldn't stop. I haven't even begun with the military jokes that I get from my hubby.....they would probably be in poor taste. |

I've discovered a new cruel joke of nature. Maybe you've woken up to it too. When I wake up and look in the mirror, I notice that I have lines or creases next to my nose and on my chest from lying on my side. I will admit that PS has been helping with this, but COME ON! Mother Nature, you can't be serious! There isn't enough coffee in the whole world to make me want to see that first thing in the morning. Why didn't my mom or grandma warn me? Maybe, they thought it would be a cute surprise. If this is 27, what happens at 35? I've seen so many women age beautifully, and that's what I want. I'm not even going to mention the OTHER things I've noticed, but it's safe to say that Mother Nature is having a good giggle at my expense. I'm hoping this is just hormones. I'm going to make a cup of coffee. Please post and let me know what else to expect. I think I can live very happily without any more of these surprises. |

Thanks for the warning. My dad's a denturist and I use Sensodyne toothpaste and Act mouthwash for that. I hope that helps, but ask your dentist what he/she thinks. Sorry, about going off topic.
The Age Braker does get rid of the lines after I use it, but I still don't like seeing it first thing in the morning. And the night cream is helping too. |
