I'm copying and pasting DIY experiments involving SKB I posted from a couple of other different forums, so I'm only "plagiarizing" myself.
Here's what I've done with it so far, + results. Can't wait to hear from those who know more than I do!
1. Nail oil - I've had a problem with dry nails/cuticles for several years, seems like anything that works reaches a plateau after a month or so, then I have to do something else. I think I may have found a keeper but I find that my nails/cuticles really seem to benefit when I switch oils and combinations. I use an old solar nail oil bottle with brush, rinsed w/hot HOT water, sterilized with alcohol and mixed the following...
a. Fill the bottle 1/4 of the way with avocado oil
b. Fill up to 1/2 the bottle with almond oil
c. From a 1 oz. glass bottle with the pipette dropper, fill the dropper 1/2 way with witch hazel [seems like I need this to keep the SKB from balling up]
d. Use 2 pumps from the 8 oz. bottle of SKB, replace the lid and shake thoroughly! The SKB seems to bind the oils together, creating a kind of milky/silky appearance.
e. 1/2 dropper from a 1oz. bottle of Neem oil. I hate the smell of this stuff, but like the effect
f. Fill almost to the top of the bottle with apricot kernel oil
g. Drop in some lavendar and rose EO.
Shake thoroughly before each use and apply to nails/cuticles nightly. Massage in. I've been using this for the last 2 weeks and my cutes still feel nice and hydrated the next morning.
2. After bath/body oil - This one's a definite keeper! After the first day of use, my legs still felt smooth and silky after 6 hours!
I use a 4 oz. Blue plastic PET bottle and fill it 1/3 of the way with avocado oil. Then another 1/3 of almond oil. 8 pumps of SKB and shake thoroughly to combine. Just as it did with the nail oil, the addition of SKB resulted in a milky, silky appearance. Fill up the rest with equal parts jojoba and apricot kernel oil, then add EOs of your choice.
3. Bath oil - Same recipe as the after bath/body oil only I use a bigger 16 oz. bottle and add 1/4 cup of Pacific sea salt and another 1/4 cup of castille soap. The only downside to this recipe is that it seems to reduce the bubble formation of my bubble bath, but skin is left soft and silky afterwards!
4. Hair treatments -
a. I added 4 pumps to my SuddzFX Zenyth serum. This serum helps to combat frizziness and the SKB combined very well without balling up. Too soon to tell yet if it adds additional shine.
b. Added 8 pumps to Aquage detangler, the leave-in conditioner I apply to hair after towel dry. The addition of SKB caused this formula to ball up terribly, so I have to warm this up between my hands thoroughly before applying. Not sure why it balled up, so this one's a no-go
c. Tried using it "neat" on my hair, but left it kind of crispy, which is the last thing I need on my curly tresses! Then mixed it up with 2 parts water and patted it on, worked a little better but I think I'll stick to just adding SKB to my existing hair products! |

Athena,
How much do you think you get from a pump of your bottle of SKB? Mine is in a tub that I scoop from.

thx for sharing, athena!!
just one question - for your body oil, since most ingredients are different kinda of oil, will it feels a bit oily after use? |

Hi Day, it does feel a little oily after application but manages to sink in by the time I get dressed [within 10 minutes after shower]

Hi ali, given that the bath oil contains salt, I'm not sure I'd recommend it for daily use; I only use it when I have the time for a long, luxurious soak in the tub.
What a great idea for the sugar scrub! I imagine if you were to fill up a plastic tub 1/2 to 3/4 of the way with organic cane sugar, then poured the bath oil [without the salt] over it, that would make for a yummy DIY scrub that COULD be used for everyday in the shower. |

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to scrub everyday.. might be too drying.. but it's definitely a goo idea to do it twice or thrice in a week.. =) |
