How would you apply makeup on the eyes when one eye seems to be a bit bigger than the other?
One of my eyebrows seem to be higher than the other and so makes it more obvious that my left eye is bigger. How can I apply eye makeup so it looks the same size, or should I try to shape my eyebrows so it looks exactly the same?
TIA |

Hi yeahyeah,
Hmmm... Is it really obvious? I mean to others? Often we are our worst critic! Most faces are not perfectly symmetrical.
But shaping your eyebrow to make it match soundsl like a good start. Good luck. |

Hey Cat
Thanks for your reply!
Well maybe its not that obvious cos some photos of me without my glasses seem ok-ish. But on some other photos and when I look in the mirror, I can see definately see that my left eye looks bigger .
I'm trying my best to shape my eyebrows so one's not higher than the other. If only I can glue my left brows down! |

So, I thought about that. And, perhaps try playing with eyeshadows too. A lighter shade (beige?) under the brow, "lifts" the who area up - so you could do just the eye that is lower or so it more sparingly. There are a number of eyebrow pencils that are recommended. There's even a famous one that Carekate swears by (but I can't remember the name) - it's sold at Sephora. You can buy just the pencil or the whole kit.
Or grow the eyebrow more bushy lower(try castor oil and/or rogaine). I haven't had much luck with these but other forum members have. And tweeze the upper line to bring it down. |

yeahyeah - I remember a while ago someone posted with the same problem, and quite a few of us replied to say that we had the same kind of thing.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Nobody's features are completely symmetrical and of an equal size. You probably see it because you're looking for it. I bet nobody else even notices.
I'm sure you look absolutely fine.
BTW if you did want to try the eyebrow kit CAT mentions that Carekate recommended, I'm pretty sure it was by Anastasia. |

Thanks for the tips!
Anastasia - is she the one that does all the stars eyebrows? I'll look up the eyebrow kit and see if its available in the UK...Thanks |

Hi YY,
I think estee-lauder does eye-brow shaping for a charge of £10 redeemable against any purchase. They do this at some of the departmental stores.
Once the Dior sales person suggested to me to use tweezers to shape my eye-brows (as I have very light eye-brows).
Rest assured, no one is symmetrical.
When do you fly to HKG? |

Hi VL
Ohhh, I gotta check the Estee Lauder out then! But I have to see which department store offers such service.
I was just searching for Anastasia and she said that eye brows arent symmetrical but she can make them perfect with a bit of this and that...it was all too much!
I'm going to Hong Kong in two weeks, cant wait...I've got a list of what I want to buy
BTW thanks for replying in the other thread about the hygiene issues on airplanes. It was scary reading that tap water isnt safe to use! |

Hi YY,
glad I re-assured you about the airplanes. I would be worried if they were not hygienic.
I think Selfridges and some of the other big departmental stores offer the service. If you ring them, they should be able to let you know or better still you could go on estee lauder's website.
I bought perfume and shoes from HKG. There's an american make (shoes) which we don't get here - BASS - I like them a lot.
well, am sure we'll exchange posts before your trip.
Enjoy the sunshine!

Hi VL
Just checked Estee Lauder's website http://www.esteelauder.co.uk/events/se_brow_bar.tmpl and they have that service in the town I live! But its £15 redeemable on any purchase but I cant think of anything to buy from Estee Lauder , I've only tried their advanced repair stuff and it didnt wow me and clogged my pores too.
Bass- I've never heard of them. I'll be sure to check them out when Im there. We never seem to get many choices here in the UK.
Speak to you again!

Hi YY,
they do nice cosmetics...though to be honest, I prefer dior or guerlain cosmetics.
BASS - i first saw them in the US and it's an american company. My feet are funny shape - it widens in the front, so, most shoes/sandals don't fit me that well. I have nearly flat feet as well. I find BASS very comfortable and quite reasonable for the quality they provide.
The shoes in UK are exorbitantly priced and poor quality.
Good night, Vidisha |

Hi Vidisha
Totally agree with you! Everything in the UK seems to be over-priced really ...skincare, clothing, food etc etc
I've never used any of Estee Lauder's makeup except for a free sample of one of their mascara which wasnt anything special.

Anastasia is *the* brow guru to Hollywood! One of our members (La Vie En Rose) even gets her brows waxed by the famous lady herself! For those who can't get an appointment with Anastasia, I hear VERY GOOD THINGS about the brow technicians that work at the Anastasia boutique at the Sephora store on Madison Ave in NYC and at other "flagship" Sephora stores in Europe so if you're fortunate enough to live in NYC, London or Paris, you might see if you can get an appointment with an Anastasia rep to get your brows professionally done and then you can buy an Anastasia brow kit to maintain the shape at home.

This is my HG eyebrow highlighting pencil: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69504&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5746 (mine is "Matte Shell" which is perfect for my fair but warm complexion).
Although I love just about all of the products from Anastasia (her tweezers and the brow highlighting pencil are must-haves, along with her brow-trimming scissors!), it's more economical to purchase one of her all-in-one brow kits then to separately purchase each item.
I recommend this kit: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P137501&categoryId=C10474 to get everything you need for perfectly groomed brows.
I know our Mabsy loves their dual-shade brow powder compact (I personally prefer the brow pomade) and there are quite a few fans of the EyeLight Matte highlighting pencil besides me.
I haven't used the brow stencils that came in my kit, though I plan to soon as I'm currently growing my brows out so I can reshape the arch and will be using the "petite arch" stencil as my plucking guide....
It looks like Anastasia's introduced a new kit that includes the tweezers and scissors together (wish that had been available when I first got mine!): http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P184209&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5746 which would be the one I'd recommend for anyone that just plucks and trims their brows and doesn't really do anything else makeup-wise. In fact, I think I'm going to order this for my mom....*CareKate makes mental note to order it*
If Anastasia products aren't available at the Sephora store in your country, I'm always happy to offer my services to make a custom purchase so just PM me to work something out. |

Thanks for the info and the offer of CP...I think I will wait til I come back from HK to see if there's any other cheaper alternatives out there. |

See, I told you CK raves about Anastasia!!! For someone who brushes her eyebrows and colors them with a pencil, I don't get the brow excitement. I have the Kevyn Aucoin book "Making faces" and he starts every single face with, "tweeze eyebrows"! I actually like mine to be big (sadly, they aren't) and I wish I could make them bushier (= meaner)!! |
