Ok, I'm frustrated with battery powered nose hair groomer devices. My last one, the blade was so flimsy, part of it broke off while cleaning it so I'm looking for the best tool. Also, in the long run, most of these devices are cheaply made and stop working and/or the blades dull quickly. I'm open to any suggestions.

In my recent search online I'm considering trying:

- Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer
- Groom Mate Trimit
- Rubis Stainless Steel Ear + Nose Hair Scissors

In the past, I had a cheap twist-it device that looks similar to the Groom Mate Platinum and it did nothing! So the special scissors idea is looking more and more like the way to go.

What does everyone here use? Anyone use scissors made for this purpose? If so, is it best to go with Rubis or Tweezerman -- does price make any difference?

Thanks for considering my current dilemma Confused

I will admit it...I get rid of any unsightly hair.
I have just used the little cheap battery operated ones.
One time I plucked,oh ouch. Won't do that again.
Sorry,I haven't tried the items you asked about.
But,I would if they did the job.

My husband just uses little round-nosed scissors, don't know what brand, probably whatever was cheapest at the drugstore. They've worked for him fine.

Also, I think I saw someone get their nose hair waxed on TV. It would probably hurt A LOT, but would be a longer term option.

Can't imagine how you would take care of ingrowns though...

OMG I have done everything short of electrolysis to keep those puppies out of sight! (Blessed with tons of hair in all the wrong places Crying or Very sad )
Cosmetologist friend waxes herself all the time w/o ingrowns.
I pluck Shock (takes a Real Woman to stand it!) and this works the best for me. Clipping only leads to ugly "shorties" IMO. Once I got used to the PAIN, it wasn't so bad and now I can do it w/o a mirror. It's an acquired skill, but not one I can brag about anywhere but here! Thank God for EDS!

Wow, fawnie, I'm impressed! But they always say that women have a higher pain tolerance and I totally agree!

I take care of nose hair as they did for me in the salon. I use warm wax. Carefully I apply the wax to the edge of nose cavity (apply with flat end tooth pick). I press a piece of cotton around the whole area. With one quick pull I am free of nose hair. This method is so quick and is not that painful for me. Perhaps waxing works well for me as I have somewhat of a pug nose. It is easy for me to see what I am doing. With my nose type no way can I have nose hair. Bad Grin

I have read on some other forum that it is possible to remove nasal hair with laser. The hair is removed from the lower part of the nose. Cotton balls are inserted into the nose, so that the upper part nasal hair being preserved, and than laser is applied to the lower portion.

I tried to find a web site, where I read this info originally, but can not find it now.

i use a cheap battery operated nose hair trimmer made by conair. it's seems durable enough for me and you can take the head apart to clean the blades. the only downside is that the batteries run out quickly, so i take the battery back out everytime i finsh using it.

It is kind of nice to hear that I am not the only one with this problem. I have been embarrassed about this for a long time. When I use the cheap electric trimmers I am worried that (like everything) the hair is only growing back thicker and faster. I try to pluck the obvious ones but you are right, it hurts and dare you would get an ingrown hair, that would be painful.

Im a plucker too, its cheap, fast and like fawnie said you dont get those "shorties"! Its not that bad when you keep up with it, I do it every time I clean up my brows, usually three times a week.

This is something I have an issue with too lol. I don't use a nose hair thing to trim. I just use some very small/fine scissors. Like those ones that are a peacock or bird type of design. The finer the tip, the closer you can trim the hairs. With trimming, like someone else mentioned, you get those short stubbies, which is why I like the small scissors... you can get ultra close to the skin. I do it about once a week because I like the way it makes my nose look "extra" clean. (I also like that I can breathe a lot easier lol) Just be careful!... I've never had any probs with it. Lol there's no way in the world I could pull them out with tweezers.
Now if only I could get my SO to trim LOL.

Sheesh. A good Derm could make a killing doing electrolysis on nosehairs!!!
PS- plucking is no worse than a Brazilian IMHO! Warrior Pluckers indeed!! Laughing
