I need simply a product recommendation. My skin is dry, and I normally never get pimples. But on my chin, I sometimes get pimples that never surface, and that cannot be squeezed. Is there something I could apply locally to make them disappear? And that doesn't dry my skin out? I am already using the MD Formulations Facial Cream to combat dryness. |

well everyone has their own fave but I like,
Yonka Juvenil will help draw the gunk from your skin and Creme 15 helps to keep my skin clear.
Alternatively MD Formulations Skin Perfection Gel works well |

This is what I have labelled these lovelies, as I too have had these in the past. Hate `em! Whatever you do, do not pick at these, or risk spreading infection, and having the blemish fester under the skin. Not nice. Plus, I've found that if these types of blemishes are picked, they tend to leave lovely scars for quite some time.
I advise using a product such as Phytomer's Gommage, or Yonka Gommage 305 N-Dry skin. These will exfolaite the skin gently, ridding the skin of blemish causing congestion! |

Sounds like cystic acne - acne cysts that are deep under the skin. These are a giant pain (literally) and generally caused more by hormones than anything else. You could ask your doc for antibiotics to clear up the infection or even go a step further and get a cortisone shot to eliminate the cyst. However, if you are looking for a topical that seems to work well, I would recommend a couple of drawing salves:
1. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.
2. Any Icthymol ointment. (This stuff is tarry and black-colored so cover up your pillow. But it WILL pull any infection up to the surface and clear it.)
Hope that helps! |

Hi there, I had a similar problem too, but I had it on my chin + forehead. What's worst, looks like its spreading sideways downwards conquering my cheek area. When squeezed, its more like a streak of soft fatty noodle, which is very disgusting. My facial adviser told me it shouldn't be happening at my age (I'm 27), but the clearing up is very painful. Desperately need help . Any advice to let them surface and clear? |

I get these round my jawline & neck! occasionally and one thing is sure like Casper's mum has said don't pick! If it isn't ready to - sorry to be graphic- come to the surface, pecking just leaves big blotches on your skin.
so don't pick, select an exfoliant, and I stick by my Yonka!
bobsom, it could be spreading because of how you're squeezing them (I know we're all told not to but sometimes it has to be done!) make sure your skin is clean, perhaps apply a warm compress to open the pore, afterwards apply something antiseptic.
I'd like to add it took me a while to find a line that really suited my skin, over the counter acne stuff makes me peel and more sore.
Betterat, I've never heard of that tar stuff? |

I've got a few spot treatments that work well and also have read reviews of a few more that I am really tempted to try.
I reach for MDF Clearing Complex most I think. The Queen Helene mask is good to leave overnight (JUST on the spot) as well. I have also tried Dermalogica Medicated Clearing Gel (and it worked well too). I haven't found either of these to be particularly drying though with regular use the MDF one could be (I guess).
I have heard/read many MANY raves about the DDF Sulphur Mask (which you can also leave on just the spot overnight). And I have heard good things about the YonKa Juvenil as well (see Chunlisa's review of it a while back).

I also got lots of these along my jawline and they seem spreading too (coz I just can't stop myself from squeezing them). This has been annoying me for some months already, can anybody suggest anything that can stop it?
Does exfoliating really help? |

Actually I heard the beauty woman on QVC suggest cleansing that area twice if you are having problems there incase you haven't got all the muck off your face first time which sort of makes sense, the same applies round the hairline. |

In my experience, it is best to not pick or try exfoliating these types or else they may spread infection and/or scar. I make sure that area is cleansed well (I use a toner in that area after cleansing) and apply prescription antibiotic gel (Clindagel). This really takes care of them for me. The antibiotic kills the bacteria, and nothing ever surfaces; they just go away. I have read that outbreaks of this type (under the skin, chin area) are hormonally-related, and I believe that because I get them pre-menstually. Taking Evening Primrose Oil internally has helped reduce the number that I get per month. HTH. |

I to, suffer from these nasty cysts on my chin as well.
I've also wreacked some havoic on my face when you try to squeeze them and they are not ready to surface.
Because they are hormonally related, my only answer was to take birth control pills. This helped significally and now I only get one, once every few motnhs. Before the pill, as soon as one cleared, I could feel another below the skin.
I took Diane 35 for 2 years and am now on Alesse. Neither pill had side effects or caused me to gain weight, plus it cleared my chin area very well. I also take Evening Primrose Oil everyday. Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) are excellent for the skin and infalmmation. Plus they keep skin nourished from the inside out, which helps with ageing.
In addition, I use Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Jurlique Herbal Gel and sometimes Yonka. As I said in another post, when you have this type of skin, you have to be very careful about make-up. The only foundation I have ever been able to use that didn't cause these cysts and clogged pores is Aveda.
The pill may not be an option for everyone but I thought I would share as I suffered from this for a long time too, and the pill made a huge difference. |

Thanks so much, Eve and Masby. I've read about messages you 2 posted and you both are just lovely. I've started to browse around and reseach for Yonka. I'm currently starting to be on skin ceutical, which my facialist recommends me.
Masby, I've read about MDF Clearing Complex and Queen Helene mask that you suggested to me. Thankyou. But are they good for whole forehead usage? coz you've mentioned about spot treatment only...
Acutually, its my facialist that's doing the "clearing up" and I'd rather hold back and took my hands off my face. I'm thinking of stop doing that kinda treatment but my facialist keep telling me they gotta be clear up otherwise, my "underskin" would be very messy. That... I don't know. As these little hidden "treasure" never surface, I always wonder what they are. I could only feel them or see then when its under bright light (that I could see they're like rashes). I could obviously see an oily layer up on my forehead. Would exfoliating it cause over-reaction? Cuties, I need your advice...please! ![Exclamation](images/smiles/exclaim.gif) |

Hi just to share, i have been reading personal replies from some of Godiva's clients and a lot of them gave me positive feedback on their anti-blemish products. One of them claim that she has these really sever acne break outs that almost covered his entire face, with his self esteem going down the drain, anyway he has been advised to use Godiva Anti-Blemish products and the results where immediate, his acne started to dry out after a few days and his breakouts are now controlled.
His acne scars are also no longer a problem as Godiva Anti-Blemish have this Licorice ingredient that also whitens acne scars as other active ingredients of the product controls acne formation (especially cystic!)
Anyway, its really good that they use Natural ingredients in Godiva not those harsh chemicals one, so maybe if i run out of my other whitening supplies, i will try the anti-blemish products. |

ah shucks (blush) that's very nice of you to say that thank you. I hope your therapist helps you out and remember to keep up the programme at home.
I would recommend to exfoliate but don't be too harsh on your skin.
While I know that taking the pill would help my skin I'm not prepared to risk the health side effects. As I'm not in any sort of relationship-unless you count going to the gym I've not seriously thought of it as an option. |

For pimples that reside deep in my skin, i use glacial marine mud to draw them out. My pimples are those that are deep rooted to the skin and no matter how i squeeze, the pus just wont come out. I suffered severe breakout for the first few days but after that period my skin cleared up and that very spot where the acne resides in never have any acne problems again. You might wana consider giving it a try. |

Bobosm,
Awww you're too sweet!
I mentioned them both as a spot treatment but they can be used all over (although the MDF should really be used on the "affected area"). I have used Queen Helene on the entire face (it really stung though - happens to some and doesn't to others with this mask) but I only use the MDF on and around the pimple or "pimple-to-be". I wouldn't leave the QH overnight though unless it was JUST on a pimple.
